@chikorita157 You were right, looks like the Snapdragon X Elite (stop using X, it’s been swastikad) is both fast and lasts longer (though since it’s actively cooled and I have no idea of what battery was used we’ll have to see about performance per watt).

Would be neat to have it in a Linux laptop. I don’t want an even worse Windows keyboard (the win and menu key was always moronic and inferior to meta, but it’s getting worse now!) though, and Windows with copilot+ is just incredibly super creepy. So maybe someone will finally build an actual Linux laptop with a sensible and useful keyboard.

I don’t even want to know what it’s reporting back on, but nothing you do on your computer would be even remotely a little bit private. That is creepy.

Apple better not be as dumb.

Just had one of those low level aha moments. I don’t have a TikTok account, I don’t have the app nor do I go to the web site.

So now I’m sure that if anyone is reading this they are thinking: “Yon, that’s an awfully long winded way to say you don’t watch any TikTok videos!”

@chikorita157 Heard of XBox’s recent issues? That they will open up their exclusives (and I’m sitting here with an XBox thinking, not much to care about their exclusives), poor hardware and gamepass sales, etc.

But that’s not my point. I’m baffled that I can have an idea that apparently senior staff there don’t. Said it before, but I’ll bet you this would be a hit:

XBox “Deck/Switch”, the OS.

Installable on generic x86 hardware (and ARM if that happens). Basically the Windows version of the Steam Deck. Stay in XBox for gaming, and optionally “drop into” windows (if you install that part).

Instant Windows gaming library, Game Pass, and store.

Not that I’m advocating for it per se, just baffles me that they haven’t had the idea.

Or am I super off and nobody would want it? Feels better than “raw” Windows on a handheld gaming machine.

@Sharkey Quick question. Was playing around with Sharkey and docker compose and ran into some issues (the files seems identical on misskey).

Where would be a decent “forum” to ask questions and such? No promises but it might turn into PRs as well. Would love to get the helm charts up to speed too.

(Realized I have zero open source presence, and could dearly use one. So that’s where this comes from:) Would love to get some PRs in. 25 years in the software game now, so it’s about time.)

Gah. Why are the anime I watched apparently clumped up and aired in the same few days? I just got real sad when there was no S3E3 yet for Konosuba. There’s a few shows I’m thinking of starting, but this waiting a week is just ruining the momentum and bumming me out.

Dropping a whole season at once is superior in every dang way I think.

A real life troupe I’m not very fond of is to shame people who didn’t want a pet, but showing photos of them loving their pet.

I find that just sad. How it’s used as some form of “haha! Told you! You were wrong!”. No talk about why someone either didn’t want a pet, or was afraid. It’s especially bad if it’s just dumped on someone.

People might not want a pet for many different reasons, but I don’t think “I don’t actually like pets” is a very common one. They might be afraid of them, scared of the responsibility, or simply never have been around pets.

I wouldn’t have gotten pets on my own, but I’ve loved all our pets and I love our two dogs. But it was something I had to overcome, and I think the world would be a better place if people were nicer and kinder about it.

In fact, people should be nicer and kinder to anyone coming around and making a positive change in general.

Just my random thought of the day, as apparently the 18%:)

So the times have caught up with me. I got let go last week. It really sucks.

I will probably put together something in a few days, to see if I can pick up any leads here on the fediverse. The TL;DR is 20+ years of experience, remote work only, done a lot of different software engineering things over the years.

This is genuinely scary, and don’t be surprised if I’m a bit scatter brained at times.

I saw that you replied, because I got a notification. But I can't actually find that reply no matter what I do:( I've looked at the specific account (connected to the blog) and I've looked at my blog list (there I see nothing) etc etc.

If you browse, do you see it? Been looking both via Ivory AND via the web.

Grocery prices are crazy. It has got to be terrible for so many people. I’m catching myself skipping a lot of stuff. Some is truly good, as it wasn’t good for me in the first place. But some are sad because I actually like them and it’s not bad for me.

I need to catch up on my anime and dream away. I think there’s a reason I watch feel good or escapist stuff almost exclusively now.

Well rip Citra. I saw someone playing Pokemon yesterday, and I was thinking, played on real hardware can be a bit of a pain. Maybe an emulator would be a cool option. Womp womp…

(And for the record I own all the games and have the hardware several times over. So it was just a quality of life thing. Plus hopefully get some help with all the online parts that the Pokemon Company has just killed off.)

Props to Sony. The warranty repair of my PSVR2 (scratched lens, they really should sell it with “not even remotely compatible with glasses, you must buy special lenses”) went incredibly smoothly.

Went to the website, filled things in. They sent a box to me. I packaged it up and fill in a small piece of paper to go with it. Got it back today, replace units looking like new. Happy days!

I’m curious about how people feel about the age of media. Is it being recent important to you? Is it only worth watching a show if you can talk about it with others as new episodes pop up?

Or do you like going back and watching/reading older media? Go back really far?

I’ve noticed that with some media I can go back a long time. Music I can go back really far (the Queen of the night’s aria still kicks), books I can can go back quite far (after a certain age the Swedish/English gets difficult to read). Live action TV? Cuts off pretty quickly. Movies even more so (except Citizen Kane that genuinely was amazing).

But I find that going back with anime and manga is pretty cool. A TV show from ‘78 was genuinely good (Mobile Suit Gundam).

Kinda want to go on a cheesy 80s binge at some point :)

Streaming services adding mobile games is a shit trend from beginning til end. Bundling is NOT a way to give us better value, just a way to drive up prices for things we don’t want.

Watching old anime (pains me when I have to specify, from the mid 80s) is interesting. It’s so different from later anime.

Style wise I could easily see how it’s a lot closer to the west at that point. Well ignoring the ads poorly masquerading as children’s TV in the U.S. :(

I keep wishing there was a really in depth video series on the stylistic evolution of manga and anime. Would required a crazy amount of research and knowledge to make something worth watching though.

Finished my Ecopla Lfrith (low how it’s actually Rubris, and they took the katakana and turned it into Lfrith :)) and it’s time to write the first proper post.

Also time to take the first banner image. I need a better setup, and was thinking of trying some kind of green screen type stuff.

Basically have a nice looking background, and then the Gunpla in order left to right as I build them. But I am extra super ungood at figuring out how to cut things out. And contemplating what the best background to photograph them in front of.

Not to look professional, more to not look poorly :)
