@botlt_test I don't envy you. I don't work directly for Amazon but for a company that does business for Amazon (white collar desk jockey style as well) and the insane actions of Amazon have directly ruined many aspects of our company as well, but because they pay the bills our management will do anything to please them. WTF are yall doing over there so that everything is last minute urgent due yesterday?
This is just a reiteration of a comment I left on an earlier, probably more useful article, but I’m posting as its own article for visibility. I hope it can help make sense of the fediverse to at least a few more of my fellow migrants....
That is what I'm looking for, some way to own my own account. The comparisons have been made to email so why couldn't I just start my own server up to be airlynx@airlynx.social? I would have to buy my own domain but I would have to do that for email anyways. Kbin.social is where my account lives right now but in the surge and in my own exploration I've also created accounts on Mastodon.social and some random lemmy instance. Now that things are starting to settle down and I'm beginning to understand what I'm doing I kind of want to merge those accounts.

I've got just a little over 200 hours in Satisfactory spread over multiple restarts, but this is the first major update I've experienced for the game. What is everyone's update plans? Waiting for stable release? Jam an existing save into the experimental build? Starting fresh in 8?
Curious to see the different takes on it but I'll probably start fresh in the experimental build just for funsies.
I don't mean to be pessimistic, bit since most subreddits are only going dark for a couple days, the site will basically be back to normal soon. I wonder how many users here are only here because of temporary outrage and not because they actually prefer Lemmy. I'm curious about people's outlook on this situation.
There will be a large drop-off once this peters out but the folks that stick around will be the ones invested in this project. I wasn't even aware of it before today but I'm glad I looked. Best we can do is add as much value here as we can while everyone is paying attention
no worries! your comment still stands! I saw Rexxit, wanted to spread it, created meme. Rexxit is spread! I think many of us are just learning of Lemmy and Kbin and federated content and all of this and I think its awesome. Here's to sticking around

How many users here do you think are going to get bored and end up back on Reddit as soon as the blackout ends?
