Consumers have a right to a warranty and ownership of their own things. If I go to the dealership they aren't going to give me a car with a different vin in basically any situation.
A computer doesn't get swapped out like this either.
If phone manufacturers are designing these things with no consideration how to repair them or have them QA at a high enough level they should be stuck with the costs.
About your last point, the elderly and disabled use these things too. Poor people without any other storage devices. I just bought myself a 20tb NAS, I'm privileged. People like me don't negate manufacturers obligations to care for their customers.
