what you did just now is called whataboutism. there is no number of child rapes by catholic priests that would influence the acceptability for a child to be admitted to an upside down leopard thong show. we cannot just claim that someone else did something worse than what we did, and that it somehow makes what we did okay. it's also problematic because it presents a false choice. we do not have to be both against children being admitted to see men dry humping each other dressed as santa's reindeer and in favor of children being raped by catholic priests.

buy a bare hard drive with a very long warranty period and buy a separate enclosure and just put it in the enclosure. the only exception I ever made to this rule was those WD black hard drives that come in an enclosure, since I have bought a number of bare WD black hard drives and never had one fail.

it's not even just that. if you count the number of transactions across all cryptocurrencies that are confirmed by mining, they are absolutely dwarfed by the number of transactions that are not confirmed by mining. same thing with volume of money moved. the environmental complaint applies to a minority of the total activity.
bitcoin will never be the dominant global currency. it couldn't even maintain its position as the dominant darknet currency. bitcoin is not perfect and you are part of a religious cult that bans people for pointing out its shortcomings.
