I was on the site from the beginning, it launched among college students in CS programs my senior year. I lurked there for two years until they required you to create an account to filter the then brand new subreddits. Before that it was just one unified homepage like YCombinator News still is.
I'll miss the community, the secret Santa, the obsession with narwhals, the Colbert protest Rally to Restore Sanity, the snap (I think my number was low double digits but I'm not signing back in to confirm). I'll miss it all.
But they screwed us. All because they got greedy and sold us out.
