As more and more articles and interviews come out about spez and how he's inspired by how Musk running Twitter, I genuinely can't believe he's this stupid. Anyone else think that we could see a repeat of what happened with Ellen Pao when all the gate subreddits were banned? All of these quotes from Spez are coming out, and the...
does it really matter what is behind tbe curtains? What we are presented is a shitty ceo and crappy company. Trying to create a story without any basis is presumptious and only divides the people further.
r/apple cave in. what the fuck. In the end most mods are only there for the power. When they are threaten to be remove, they gave up. Kuddos to r/pics and r/gifs, atleast they somehow outsmart fucking spez
I sure hope that is the case. Reddit is define by its community, not spez. I doubt spez have enough resources to reopen and moderate those subs incase the mods decides to leave.
i think the ideal course of action is to continue the blackout indifinitely. As spez said, the impact isnt that significant. 2-3 days blackout in a year is nothing. But personally, the best course of action is for the mods to agree and abandon reddit entirely and start/joined a new platform. Reddit for me is a lost cause. while Spez is the head of reddit, nothing will change.
He has data to back his claim. This isnt the first time reddit had experience backlash from its users and many times, people just simply move on. Casual users will continue to browse reddit thru their official app and loudest voices are usually the minority. Unless the mods continue to close their respective subreddit or/and move to other platform, I don’t see reddit going down any time soon.
Frankly surprised/impressed by how many subreddits have actually gone dark today.
As a staunch Apollo user and someone who doesn’t like assholes: Good.
true. I am literate in internet/computer yet the idea in general is still confusing. Navigating is also abit jarring, and I dont understand some buttons and features like “boost”. It would be great for beginners to include a tutorial for navigating the UI and a short introduction of the fediverse in #teachmelikeim5 level
if it works like as you mention. isn't it simply a "share it" feature like most social media have? like if you copy and post a link from youtube to your facebook wall page. If alot of people misunderstood the idea, it means there is something wrong with the marketing and introduction of the fediverse. That is my problem with fediverse in general, they introduces alot of jargons (instance, magazine, etc.); making transitioning from other social platform difficult. Don't get me wrong, I'm trying to understand it since I truly am planning to leave reddit altogether but not all people have the patience to understand everything like i am.
Anyone else think that spez might be the fall guy for the board?

now you can tell Reddit to get fucked, democratically

Reddit CEO warns employees not to wear Reddit swag amid blackout (www.businessinsider.com)
In a memo to employees, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman cautioned them not to wear branded gear in public. He also said the mass user backlash "will pass."
While trying to wrap my head around the concept of the Fediverse, I made this map. How did I do?
