Actually ELI5: You know those really old buildings with a paddle wheel on the side, sitting in a river? The river water pushes the wheel to turn it, and then we can connect the wheel to stuff like a sawmill or whatever.
Now, let's say you want to have a sawmill down the road instead of right on the river. If you're smart, you can find a way to stick a big hose in the river and take all that water to the other sawmill, and push a wheel there, then use another hose to put the water back in the river. That's basically what a wire does.

I, like many gamers, grew up playing Pokémon Red and Nintendo 64 and was obsessed with Nintendo products. I graduated to a PS2 and PS3 and became super into Metal Gear Solid and Call of Duty and Fallout. Also spent a ton of time with the Guitar Hero series. I loved the escape gaming brought me and it genuinely helped me relax....
Loss of interest in activities you previously enjoyed is a key symptom of depression. Basically, your brain isn't making the "I enjoy this" chemicals any more. This often strongly correlates with stress, which it sounds like OP has plenty of.
OP, you need a serious break. Give yourself time to de-stress and you will eventually find yourself enjoying things again. If you can't do that immediately, then talk to your doctor and maybe you can buy some time with meds, but know that it's just a band-aid.

I'm still crazy new here, but why can't we browse comments by Top? I'm wondering if a choice was made not to allow that (the way that Mastodon made some choices not to support some Twitter features), or if it's hard because of federation or something. That's the only thing I'm still jarred by here.
It's been over a year since I switched to Linux full time - no dual booting. I've been playing games, making games, music, and videos, doing schoolwork, taking notes, and more, all with Linux software, and with very few issues....
I made the switch to Linux on my gaming desktop 7-ish years ago, but I still had a relatively new macbook at the time and no reason to toss it. I thought I might need it for some proprietary software, such as updating the firmware on some gadget, but I never did. Apple recently decided to stop shipping OS updates for it, so now I'm 100% Linux as of this year. Thanks, Apple!

I’ve fallen into a deep gaming rut lately. What helped “get you back into” gaming and rediscover the magic of video games?
