I used Debian full-time eons ago, but last time I tried in 2019, it was a dog of a desktop OS to me compared to Fedora. It works fine as a server, but it's simply not a great desktop.
For me, they do still provide a bit of a base. I'm far less likely to answer an unsolicited foreign area code these days just because of all the spam calls.
The whole RHEL thing is not similar to Ansible. Product use by Red Hat is downstream of this open source project. Ansible might be considered more like Fedora it that situation.
