When you spend ages on hold to talk to an organisation, then inform them about your wishes, you generally expect them to listen. You don’t expect them to repeat the original reason for your call, making you go through it all again.

I think this time I’ll just return the forms, marked/defaced accordingly, so they get the sodding message that way.

Morning. I had a lot of very exhausting and sometimes challenging dreams last night, so I feel like I've hardly slept. And the hose broke again, after my previous attempted fix, so I got soaked when watering the plants. My internet is still running at <1mbps. I'm not in a good mood.

That was a successful half hour, extracting the various Virgin co-ax cable runs. I did worry about whether I had the right to do it, but it’s on my property. I have therefore simply unscrewed the connectors where they left the Virgin junction box. I’ve left the box where their cable comes into the house alone.

It now looks a bit tidier, if looking like a bomb's gone off is tidy. That whole area at the front needs pulling down and rebuilding. One day.

My beautiful mother sadly lost her battle to copd yesterday morning.

She was 83.

All her life, she loved people, beauty and colour.

She was kind, loving, understanding, encouraging and above all, incredibly fierce, steadfast, and brave.

She always stood up for those who had no voices or power.

She always shared what she had with others.

Her home was always a welcome place for others, day and night.

Her favourite flowers were azaleas.

Good night, and sleep well, my amazing mother.

I love my hobbies, but they can sometimes become very expensive.

I’m looking for a certain aircraft kit, which is out of production and unlikely to be produced again. Unbuilt kits are available, but at somewhat inflated prices.

I really want the kit, but I don’t want to spend quite that much.

The rather thoughtful, perhaps wistful, young man in the photograph is my paternal grandfather, Edwin. He gazes benignly at the camera, his slightly wavy hair neatly trimmed and parted, clean shaven, a slight smile reminiscent of the Mona Lisa. Somewhere I have photos I took about 20 years ago of medals awarded to my granddad.

Of course I can’t locate them anywhere. Why do you ask?

Either I deleted them, or they’ve been archived on an external drive I’ve forgotten about.

Assuming my parents still have them, I may have to go and take some new pictures.

Today has been a disaster and I've not even gone to the dentist yet.

Lots of things went wrong with the computer when I was in the office, and through a series of tedious but unpleasant events that I won't try to describe, I've lost some really important data. Specifically: the cardiac arrest data that I've been working on and now need to redo in only two days.

And what's more, I've lost most of the formulae and mechanisms that I've developed to make that arrest work a whole lot easier.

And my internet is on the blink.
