The announcers love to glaze tf out of TJ McConnell. Nothing gets #nba announcers more excited than smaller white guys finding success. “Gritty”, “just knows how to play the game” 🤮
@mrcompletely my 17 yo son pointed out the difference between how announcers talk about white players vs black players. It’s all I notice now while watching basketball. And yes, TJ is a good player.
@Phreba oh its definitely a thing. There are def people trying to even it out but you're still much more likely to hear certain positive traits associated with white players, especially "cerebral" and "gutty" and their synonyms, and the whole "plays the right way" thing.
