I DO NOT hate Mastodon. In fact, it's one of the most important pieces of Fediverse software that exists.

However, I just hate that all new Fediverse software is confined to being just another Twitter clone, because people want the elegance of being able to use their new Fediverse software using a client.

But it doesn't have to be this way.

The Fediverse, via ActivityPub places no limitation on what it can even be.

You can still use a client, that interfaces with something that isn't just Mastodon.

Heck, it can do it in a standardized way, thanks to the powers of JSON-LD.

Not only can you browse through a microblog (e.g. Mastodon), but you can browse through something else, perhaps a photo blog, or a video channel.

The sky's the limit.

I mean, if all you want is a microblog, then Mastodon is more than enough.

But if you want more, then it is the Fediverse's duty to not exclusively support Mastodon.

It's the only way to move the Fediverse forward.
