At this point, I don't think it's going out on too long a limb to make the case that the court's conservatives are fully committed to zero restrictions on weapons, like in a BEYOND-Scalia way, because they think their political movement 100% requires armed squads of small-town/exurban yayhoo Brownshirts.

@GrimmReality I see the second ammendment absolutists more like a means towards a goal. Keeping weapons available means nobody questions militarized police and their budgets.
