the most depraved of all UI gestures is the long press that only responds when you let go.
- can’t tell when it’s been long enough
- wastes time if it hasn’t
- what if you simply missed the target
- what if the ui element next to or behind the target also responds to long press, and takes forever to complete its action
specific example: the “do not disturb” button on the lock screen, which is too easy to miss and bring up lock screen customization instead
