The red parts are rarer and harder to see. Especially with the naked eye.

The red parts were very visible last night, and I found their colour much easier to see with the naked eye than the green parts ever are.

It’s the green parts that look white / grey. I believe it’s more of an illusions - if you have something to contrast it with, such as the moon, you can start to see a slight green tint. The pink I saw last night was very noticeable though.

I would usually describe it as grey. There have been a few times where a sunset or the moon have provided some contrast, causing the greenness to become slightly noticeable. Last night was the first time I’ve seen such an obvious pink.

Sadly it doesn’t get dark enough here at this time of year, so my family down south had a better view.

Also Haiku. I was impressed by the amount of software available for it.

I think it just needs a little polishing. They look a bid odd in those places for now.

56_,
@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

This has nothing to do with that. Signing in with an account other than OP’s wouldn’t have done anything.

Anyone else getting a blank page? I had to go into inspect element and remove {opacity: 0} on the body to see anything.

@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

It seems to be caused by the FediAct addon, which doesn’t make any sense. Disabling the addon fixes the page without needing a reload, so it must be a CSS issue rather than an exception. Edit: it seems the addon is overriding the fadeIn keyframe, but it looks fixed in the github version.

56_,
@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

It looks like it’s the addon’s fault, and has already been fixed in the github version. It’s also been abandoned, so it’s probably not worth keeping around anyway.

If stability was their aim, they wouldn’t be breaking stuff all the time…

A good starting point, but since they are GET requests, there is no reason to leave the browser.

You can visit the links directly, such as (I filled in OP’s instance):

I’ve heard from somewhere that chrome doesn’t render JSON nicely, so make sure to use firefox!

Other interesting parameters are saved_only and disliked_only.

I’m pretty sure they try to upstream as much as possible. They have made some pretty large upstream contributions which started out in their own fork.

crates.io/search?q=neofetch brings up 21 versions to choose from (21 are actual neofetch clones). There is also a library to help you write even more of them.

Weird KDE Panel resizing bug. Thinking of a complete reinstall (sh.itjust.works)

Whenever I resize the panel or the any other widget on the panel (e.g calendar widget) it doesn’t remember its size. It’s really annoying me. I am on Fedora 40, KDE 6.0.4. Nothing seems to fix it, thinking of a complete reinstall. Is anyone of you getting this bug?

56_,
@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

If you compare the sizes of the panel in the video, it is remembering the size correctly. The issue you’re having is that the position isn’t remembered.

The behaviour is the same for me on plasma 5.27.11.

56_,
@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

The issue OP is having is with the position. If you measure the sizes in the video, they are being remembered correctly.

What I feel is missing from the practical suggestions section: why cache images at all? They should be stored on the server they were uploaded to, and nowhere else. The image URL would be attached to the post, and could then be used by clients to fetch the image from the original server.

I thought lemmy did this, but it seems not (any more?).

The French Wikipedia uses the Thin Red Line flag in the legend for a map (fr.wikipedia.org)

Context: the Thin Blue Line is symbolism for the role of police in maintaining public order. It has been co-opted by the alt-right. There is also a Thin Red Line to represent nurses. The French Wikipedia happened to use it in a legend to explain what the red lines on a map mean.

56_,
@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

They have used a file named “Thin Red Line for Nurses Flag” as the key for the red line on the map. If you click on the red line in the legend, it will take you to that file.

Is there anything missing from Best-Before? It may just be finished. There is no mention of anything obvious (such as a dependency on an API) that would cause it to stop working.

Do I need a new phone for 2FA? (Tad Long)

So recently my work, a mid sized engineering firm, decided to start upgrading their IT security. The rumor is that we have potential DOD work coming our way. Over the past few months there has been multiple company decided changes to our 2 factor authentication mobile app. I willingly installed the app on my phone over a year...

56_,
@56_@lemmy.ml avatar

My dad had this same issue. He spoke to IT, and they sent him a security key he could use instead. Ended up needing a new phone a few months later anyway though…
