I disagree with those who say “Let’s focus on spreading awareness for Mastodon—not the Fediverse” for three reasons:

  1. Some people hate Mastodon. If they don’t like Mastodon, they should know about options to their liking.

  2. Some people are looking for alternatives to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram—and Mastodon is not the answer for them.

  3. What about developers looking to build novel and new social media? They should know what ActivityPub does.

@scottearle “… we’ll find out she’s pregnant.” JESUS That would be awful. Not for the character but for the writers. Why even write the storyline that way? Rebecca has been shown to be a wonderfully sexual woman. She absolutely would have a one night stand with a Dutch guy. So why hide it?

And the sex show storyline was just cringey.

Even the Jamie/Roy budding bromance fell flat in my opinion.

@gruber Windows 11 on Parallels on Apple Silicon isn’t just good, I find it much snappier, smoother, power-efficient, and generally robust than Parallels on Intel Silicon Macs ever was. Even when running ancient x86 software, like an old version of QuickBooks I’m embarrassed to say I still use. Intellectually, I understand the appeal of removing virtualization from the picture, but getting quick access to Windows apps while I’m still in MacOS is so nice I’m already very happy.

@gruber @harrymccracken I’ve never understood why Apple didn’t/hasn’t marketed this as a “Get Two Machines/OSs for the Price of One!” Always seemed like a no-brainer. I’ve convinced dozens of people to get/try a Mac just by telling them they could also get a Windows machine at the same time…

I loved going to the local library as a kid. The librarians all knew me I was there so often. I was short, fat, shy, and the other boys picked on me and beat me up on a regular basis. But the library was safe and warm and beautiful and I would say, “Hello Mr Churchill” every time I passed by this stature.

Libraries and librarians still hold a special place in my heart.
