We got robbed blind during the pandemic. Not just in terms of price gouging, mind you. There’s a reason that billionaires’ cumulative wealth went up with the exact same amount it went down for ALL THE REST OF US. 95% of all dollars in existence were “minted” (digitally, ofc) in the last couple of years. That essentially means the dollar in your pocket is already worth just a few CENTS, you just don’t know it yet. But we will.
If we still had “real” competition, this wouldn’t have happened. Even during the pandemic competition would’ve/should’ve kept prices normal-ish. But of course we all know this isn’t how it works. Turns out that if a dozen or so companies own the grand majority of whatever their industry is, they behave like monopolists. Who could’ve possibly predicted such a thing?

Pretty sure he’d have gotten the Kennedy treatment if his policies didn’t serve the owner class. But probably in a plausibly deniable way, like a heart attack or such.

Me and my SO bought our house 15 years ago. Add to that she was a shrewd negotiator who pitted a few banks’ offers against each other for an even lower rate.
Yet even back then, the only way we were able to put down a down payment for a modest house in a modest environment was because both my and her parents had saved something up and were willing to do this for us. If we’d been kicked out at 18 with no kind of support we’d still be renting today, no doubt.
So I can definitely appreciate that we were among the lucky ones, and even back then it was already hard. My heart bleeds for young people today, especially knowing it’ll get a whole lot worse before it ever gets better, IF it ever does…

Apart from that, I took a midnight walk last night fully intending on taking my own life. I was stopped by two neighbor cats that walked with me and demanded attention. This normally never happens. They kept following me until I burst into tears, played with them, thanked them for saving me and walked back home bawling my eyes out. For some reason these two angelic furry creatures just had to show me that, if nothing else, they appreciate my presence and companionship and would somehow miss me if I were gone.
So, nothing out of the ordinary all things considered.
