It’s too blurry to see what year this was, but we’re currently taught (in Australia) not to do the Heimlich manoeuvre. Also that if you’re doing CPR alone don’t bother with the breaths, the chest compressions are more important - only do breaths with a second person so you can keep compressions going uninterrupted.
I’ve started Joe Abercrombie’s The First Law again. I got maybe halfway through it a few years ago but wasn’t feeling it. It might have been because the narrator didn’t click with me, so this time I’m reading rather than listening. I’m also about 80% through Sanderson’s The Way of Kings, I wasn’t not enjoying it up to this point but it’s really picking up now.
Other than those there’s the usual slew of series I’m wading through that never seem to end, Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Mercy Thompson, In Death, Incryptid. I’ve got ebooks of everything and I basically rotate chapter by chapter on my tablet, taking a break for an old book club podcast whenever I’m up to the right place in The Way of Kings (The Duke and Duchess Book Club - they did Kingkiller Chronicles, Gentleman Bastards, Stormlight Archives and Malazan Book of the fallen).
As someone whose preferred position to watch car racing would be lying on the road, I disagree. At least a normal race might have a crash or something, that was not interesting at all.
“After” profits tumble? We haven’t even had a chance to buy FF16 or Rebirth yet, and if they’re like Remake there’ll still be a year to wait for it to get off Epic and onto Steam. Just sell us the damn game if you want money.
I heard (no idea if it’s true because I really don’t care enough to look into it) that he made a bland and inoffensive movie because comedy is too woke and you can’t say anything any more, so there’s no point trying to be funny. I’m not sure if that being true or a joke would be sadder for him.
I’ve always felt that way about prerelease stuff. Give me a title, a release date, and in the rare cases it’s not a remake/sequel, a hook. I don’t need endless hype.

BioWare revealed that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will allow players to explore much more of Thedas than in any previous entry
I know I’m very much in the minority here, but I loved 2 because it was so much smaller in scope. Origins was great too of course, but if I’m going to replay the series 2 is the one I’ll be looking forward to most. Inquisition was so big and boring to me, there were a million things to do but I didn’t care about any of them.
My first car was a Corolla that was older than me and practically free. Apart from having to change the battery a couple of times over the years I never had a problem keeping it running. Now 10 years after getting rid of it I’d still choose to take it back over one of these stupid things.
In announcing changes to the school lunches programme, David Seymour said kids would no longer be served ‘woke’ foods. To clear up any confusion, The Spinoff has compiled a guide to the wokeness levels of some common food items.
I recently got into making desserts. I end up with something I can be proud of, get to share sweets with my friends & family and satisfy my sweet tooth all at once. With $10 worth of ingredients and zero experience you can whip up a basic batch of fudge in less than 15 minutes and put pretty much anything else you want into there.
I’m looking for a mod that’ll let me set up a master list of work bills that can be done by multiple pawns across multiple workstations without having to edit the bills list of each one. Does this exist?...
Yeah that’s the one I’m using. My problem with it (not a “problem” really, but it’s not what I’m looking for) is that if you add something new to the main workbench you still have to go and link that order to the other ones, and if you build a new bench you need to go and copy everything again. If you were low on cloth for example and wanted to stop using it altogether you’d have to check all of your clothing, medicine, fabrication, whatever to make sure there were no orders.
What I’m looking for is something like a master production terminal. You tell it you want a pair of pants, line of yayo and 10 lavish meals, then it’ll send the orders to the tailor bench, drug bench and stove. Building a second stove would automatically add the bill to keep the meals stocked. I just want one place where every pending work order is listed. And we’re getting further into wish list territory here but it’d be ideal if you needed a pawn to go and confirm the orders to send them where they need to go.
I realise this is pretty specific and I don’t think it exists at the moment, so like I said I’d be willing to commission it if any modders are up for it.
I had to go back and check to make sure I wasn’t misremembering the old mod but I did mention Colony Manager, it used to do this back in a much earlier version, but it hasn’t been possible for ages. The tutorial video for the production tab is still there on the mod page. It stopped getting updated due to a lack of time and some people have asked for it back over the years. Having seen it in action in the past is probably why I want it so much now.
I was absolutely miserable at my previous job but I couldn’t go back to being unemployed so I put up with it (while job hunting, which is just as bloody miserable) until I had a total breakdown one day. Now I’m in a much better position and enjoy what I do, but I still have a mortgage on an apartment looming over the rest of my life and losing my job for any reason would make my 10th story balcony look very tempting. It shouldn’t feel this way.
I haven’t played Tekken since 3, but Eddy is one of the few characters I remember and he was unstoppable back then too. I just realised he certainly would have unconsciously been my inspiration for getting into Capoeira years later. Godspeed, Mr Gordo.
I watched the clip in the article, is that slow-mo and zooming part of the game by default? That’s unbearable, it’s worse than a Zack Snyder movie.
Oh man, Ghostwriter. Gooey Gus gave me nightmares as a kid. I was too scared even to go to the toilet because I imagined he’d be sitting in there when I opened the door.
That’s been happening for ages. I’m sure if you check the profiles you’ll find other posts with all the same bots commenting. A lot of lazier ones wait exactly a year to repost, and it’s pretty obvious in subs for something like a live service game where they’ll be reposting complaints that are way out of date. One in the Monster Hunter sub reposted a trailer for Iceborne which had been out for 3 years by that point.
