That perfectly describes me. I don’t touch Reddit, got off FB and Instagram years ago, never had Twitter, etc. Lemmy is the only thing I use now, I subscribe to a few dozen communities that get maybe 15 new posts a day combined. If I’m in the mood to waste time on here I’ll see the new posts and hide them as I go. When they run out I’m done for the day. I won’t act like it’s the right move for everyone, but for me personally cutting my social media (or similar) internet usage down to around half an hour a day max has made me a lot happier.

Do you listen to the Weekly Planet by any chance? I’ve never seen this before, then they mentioned it in the latest ep a few days ago and now it’s popped up.

I was in the Summer event and came third or so for Jarvonia overall. Like a dope I stopped using Discord right after that and haven’t seen anything from the game since. Looks awesome, can’t wait to get in.

I avoid trailers and other pre-release stuff because I like everything to be fresh and surprising when I play games, but I’ve been jumping in and out of World for the last couple of weeks. I’m so ready for Wilds, this wait is going to be agonising.

I have enough games in my steam library that I could never buy another game, and be perfectly content

So, just Rimworld then.

Honestly though, same. I was really interested in Ghosts of Tsushima when it launched. Now years later it’s finally on PC but it costs more than I usually pay for new games. Fuck that. The only way I’m buying a PS5 is if a friend wants one and is willing to let me get it, play FF7 & 16 then sell it to them in a few months.

Looks like Eurogamer’s a bit behind, it’s been a month since the negative Steam reviews started flowing in.

Welcome to the club, Take Two has been on my shitlist since they tried to sue modders or whatever the hell that was back in like 2017. I barely even remember why I hate them any more, I only remember deciding to boycott.

What did you think of Book of the Ice? Book of the Ancestor is my favourite series, I love it so much (after hating the 3 Whatever of Thorns books I forced my way through before that - I almost didn’t bother). I was so ready for more then Ice didn’t really do it for me sadly. I loved the first quarter or so of the first book where it built the same world from a wildly different perspective, but didn’t really like the actual story all that much and never got around to reading past the first book. I have the trilogy signed by the author though, that’s pretty cool.

I imported the Spanish version of Artemis Fowl into LingQ (a language-learning app) and have been slowly burning through that for 15 minutes a day. Not much to say about the book, it was just something I loved as a kid so I thought it’d be a good one to start with.

I’ve also just started The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. My girlfriend recommended it to me, though she says it contains some of the most badly-written and non-arousing sex scenes she’s ever read. Can’t wait.

I didn’t vote for or against, but for the record if you’re looking for feedback I’m not interested in a link to reddit. Images or body text would be fine, but with just a title I’m not even bothering to click, I’m not here to use reddit and then discuss it away from the actual discussion.

It’s too blurry to see what year this was, but we’re currently taught (in Australia) not to do the Heimlich manoeuvre. Also that if you’re doing CPR alone don’t bother with the breaths, the chest compressions are more important - only do breaths with a second person so you can keep compressions going uninterrupted.

Just don’t turn the tap on full blast and it’s fine. You just want cool flowing water to soothe the burn, you’re not trying to clean it or anything.

I work a minimum of 24h across a typical Saturday and Sunday to get that Tuesday off.

I’ve started Joe Abercrombie’s The First Law again. I got maybe halfway through it a few years ago but wasn’t feeling it. It might have been because the narrator didn’t click with me, so this time I’m reading rather than listening. I’m also about 80% through Sanderson’s The Way of Kings, I wasn’t not enjoying it up to this point but it’s really picking up now.

Other than those there’s the usual slew of series I’m wading through that never seem to end, Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Mercy Thompson, In Death, Incryptid. I’ve got ebooks of everything and I basically rotate chapter by chapter on my tablet, taking a break for an old book club podcast whenever I’m up to the right place in The Way of Kings (The Duke and Duchess Book Club - they did Kingkiller Chronicles, Gentleman Bastards, Stormlight Archives and Malazan Book of the fallen).

As someone whose preferred position to watch car racing would be lying on the road, I disagree. At least a normal race might have a crash or something, that was not interesting at all.

The marble racing on the other hand, absolutely.
