For Juno's TestFlight testers, I just sent out a large update that I'd love if you could put through its paces and DM me if there's any showstoppers before public release! See test notes! 🥽📺🧪
I don't know why the Apple Card, which 99% of customers probably set up with Apple Pay and never actually use the card, is made of titanium. And shipping the card back (with gas, labor, etc.) to save $0.50 of Titanium feels weird, too.
@danielpunkass I just recently learned (because I never use my physical card) that the titanium card apparently also doesn’t support tap to pay? It’s completely a show piece lol
@mergesort Im guessing this is a requirement, but when using iPad builds on Mac, you need to sign in with an Apple ID in Settings/on the Mac before you can use Sign in with Apple inside of an app?
@mergesort Yep, exactly. We have an MDM where I can’t log in to iCloud. It’s weird, I can sign into the App Store and download apps though. But can’t at the system level.
@mergesort yeah, was gonna use mini and downloaded it late today. Tbh, I’m still all-in on pinboard, and waiting for you to support imports. No fault of yours, but the Apple ID oddities may be a deal breaker. But I’m in for a year subscription with Plinky and gonna try to work it into my workflow.
OK, so you know the so-called "source code leak" from Rabbit for the #r1 last week? It wasn't a real leak, but what it showed was different than what I was expecting. So Rabbit Hole, the way you configure your R1 -- it only works on desktops, which I thought was rather odd. And then I went to manage my connection and I figured out why. This whole thing is a fucking VNC session in the web browser served as if it is a modal login
Just when I thought I couldn’t get more political spam text messages in a 24 hour period, I’m proven wrong.
I think I’ve gotten like 20 today. This problem is totally out of control and I have no idea what to do about it. It’s also bled over to my wife since even though she’s never donated, they… somehow got her phone number and have been spamming her phone as well.
@rileytestut any chance that we get an option to not have audio play from a game in the not too distant future? I want to play while watching a YouTube video or listening to a podcast.
@rileytestut Volume slider would be awesome to maybe have a bit of audio there, but an on/off at minimum would be great.
One question quick - are save states something that come with like a set file format per platform emulated? Would it be possible to import saves from an Analogue Pocket?
Never ever ever ever ever ever ever trust what caller ID says. Never do anything that someone who calls you and claims to be from a company or government organization tells you to do. Never give cash to anyone who claims they represent a company, a lawyer, or the government, and they need the cash to help you out. No legitimate organization works solely with cash. https://www.thecut.com/article/amazon-scam-call-ftc-arrest-warrants.html
@gruber@glennf My experience was in one of the largest branches of a Chicago regional bank, with ~5-8 tellers at any given time. We did 10k+ transactions with relative frequency, but 50k would be exceptional and raise questions on “why do you need cash for this?”. Would definitely have raised questions that weren’t brought up in the article.
@gruber@glennf Once you either deposit or withdrawal 10k in cash a day (though tbh anything suspicious like $9,999 also is included), you trigger required reporting through the Bank Secrecy Act (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_Secrecy_Act) and are reviewed for potential money laundering.
Often, waivering or pretending to not have the cash on hand is a tactic to learn more about why you need the money and to see how anxious you are about the delay. Which would be considered suspicious.
@gruber@glennf Like many things in America, these powers got stronger and more invasive after 9/11, when every transaction could be followed with “well, this money could be going to the Taliban”.
@gruber@glennf Also, I know Brooklyn is very cool and unlike anywhere in the country according to people who live there, but this transaction would have required multiple people at the bank to be present and sign off. It wouldn’t just be handed at a teller window as presented in the story.
Honest thought that has been nagging me for a while now: do I ever buy another iPad Pro now that Vision Pro exists? Especially with an incoming price hike, as rumored, that might bring the two product lines much closer in price. A MacBook Air with Mac Virtual Display in visionOS provides that escape hatch that gives me everything iPad never did, and visionOS effectively runs all the same software as iPad. Is direct touch really that important to me if I'm not drawing with a Pencil?
