I /expect/ (though am not an expert) that it's no more dangerous than any other corporate social media (less danger from hackers than anything Facebook has done in the past decade) which includes, even if it's a fine actor now, that may change once the corporation behind it gets a greater market share and needs to squeeze more revenue out of its users, regardless the way.
All that said,the sheer antagonism of UI/UX design that its website is has kept me away out of spite, regardless.
@ceamba Hmm, interesting... not sure, have pushed it out to only update every 8 hours. It pushed out images every time it sees a change, and if they have changed text or are forcing a change to the filename I might be missing it. I'll take a look.
@ceamba Wild. I have enough problems with smaller cartridges leaking/getting plugged before they're done that it's not exactly something I'm interested in but still. Big boy.
The bane of my existence right now is that my #coffee in my mug goes from too hot to too cold in moments leaving me a small window of perfect temp for drinking. I really don’t like cold coffee.
@ceamba
I have the answer! Get a thermal mug with lid from Amazon (or wherever) for under $20. If I warm up my little 12-oz aluminum cup with hot water, then pour in freshly-brewed coffee, it will stay hot (hot!) for at least 60-90 minutes…long enough to get through Mastodon, online news & Reddit.
The only possible drawback is it isn’t microwaveable.
@cynblogger but my dear daughter got me this hand made mug for Xmas last year, and yes, I am one of those dads who use/wear anything their kids get them. But I’m getting that that special mug just won’t be my daily anymore.
New job, new insurance. New shitty insurance that doesn’t really cover my #Dexcom G5. With my shitty insurance it’s $325 for 30 days. Hard no. I’m sure when I run out of pumps I’ll have the same issue.
The insurance and drug companies just see us as cash cows to be milked for all we’re worth. And if we don’t play their game we can expect complications and an early death due to looser control.
The US is the only industrial nation where this happens. Fuck this shit. I don’t care that I’m diabetic, I care that we have to live in the poor house if we want to get our supplies.
I don’t follow more than a handful of people, but oh my is my feed noisy. I check several times a day and still have over 200 new toots in the morning. How do people who follow 1000 people do it?
My youngest has turned into a #horse girl. This is way outside my frame of reference as I’m not a fan of horses and had no exposure to them growing up. But it makes her #happy so I endure. (Still can’t) ALT teenage age girl and a horse
@sharonecathcart thank you! :) I don’t know if this will turn into a long term thing or is just stereotypical “girl” activity (and her riding classes are all girls) that she’ll outgrow, but I’ve got her back and will keep paying as long as she wants to do it.
@ceamba That's great! My 13 year old does riding lessons out here about once every two weeks and she really enjoys it. Unfortunately, she is allergic either to horses, or something else out there, and comes home absolutely wrecked every time. Still keeps going though.
