Yeah, well some days, when I go to get my two year old out of bed she’s like, “No! I want mommy. Get out!” Sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches.

jubilationtcornpone,

Trump could come steam rolling into the debate with tiny pupils and white powder under his nose and Republicans would give zero fucks. Also, he is clearly on drugs because with Trump, every accusation is an admition.

jubilationtcornpone,

“Nice shotgun! That’ll really get the German’s riled up.”

“I have made a huge mistake.” CTRL+Z CTRL+Z – Genesis 6-9

jubilationtcornpone,

Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle” gave a [somewhat] fictionalized account of the conditions of the meat packing industry in the early 20th century. It paints a gruesome picture. Federal agents sent to the Chicago slaughterhouses to investigate by then President Theodore Roosevelt confirmed the truth of most of the books details. And that was after the plant owners found out they were coming and had the plants thoroughly cleaned.

The market (aka greedy assholes) have conned people into paying for and eating worse things than sawdust.

jubilationtcornpone,

I would suggest “Fuckface von Clownstick” but that name is already taken.

jubilationtcornpone,

I am too old to drink liquor that cheap. Hangovers get worse with age.

Python is great, but stuff like this just drives me up the wall (lemmy.world)

Explanation: Python is a programming language. Numpy is a library for python that makes it possible to run large computations much faster than in native python. In order to make that possible, it needs to keep its own set of data types that are different from python’s native datatypes, which means you now have two different...

jubilationtcornpone,

I currently work on a NodeJS/React project and apparently I’m going to have to start pasting “‘any’ is not an acceptable return or parameter type” into every damned PR because half the crazy kids who started programming in JavaScript don’t seem to get it.

For fucks sake, we have TypeScript for a reason. Use it!

jubilationtcornpone,

That’s nothing. Breast feeding is the real danger zone.

One time my wife was feeding one of our kids and she said something like, “Damn, these hormones. I don’t know why but breast feeding fills me with rage. Like, I could actually stab you with this [points at knitting needle] .”

She wasn’t visibly upset. She was calm and cool like she is 99.99% of the time. But the fact that she even mentioned it means I came way closer than I would like to having my nice little nap in the recliner interrupted by a knitting needle to the face.

jubilationtcornpone,

Same argument, different scenario.

“Why would he help them out of the polar bear enclosure? We haven’t fixed the hole in the fence up top yet.”

jubilationtcornpone,

Do they think they won? Do they just ignore it? Do they think there’s some big convoluted conspiracy reason why they didn’t do it?

Part of the problem with morons is that they don’t think much of anything. They lack critical reasoning skills and their opinions on most things are based on horseshit rather than logic.

jubilationtcornpone,

Yeah, I work for one of these companies. Some senior executive quotes some stupid thing Jeff Bezos said about everything being an API and is like “This! We need to do this!”

Nevermind the fact that we’re not AWS and our business has zero overlap with theirs. Nevermind that this mindset turns every service we design into a bloated, unmaintainable nightmare. And, forget the fact that our software division is completely unprofitable due to the checks notes shitty business decisions made by senior management.

No no, we’re going to somehow solve this by latching onto whatever buzzword is all the rage right. Turns out having an MBA doesn’t mean you know shit about running a business.

jubilationtcornpone,

You start with a bunch of drama. Mix in some personal animosity and a dash of dysfunction. Then you add a little cocaine. Ok, a little more. Actually let’s go with a lot more. Mix it all up real good. Then you take the mixture, give it a dramatic name, like “Rumours”, pop it into a record press, and voila! Out pops a crisp, best selling album.

Home Ownership is Just One Persons Fight Against Water (sh.itjust.works)

Had a nice little foundation leak during the last rain storm. Installed a drain line last fall to divert two downspouts and front walkway run off away from the house which helped a lot. Front walkway and a big retaining wall next to it ultimately need to be removed and reinstalled with proper grading and drainage. That’s going...

jubilationtcornpone,

Our house was built by idiots so it doesn’t have any foundation drainage that I know of and the grading is all wrong. Well, lots of things are wrong, but most of them don’t flood the basement when it rains.🤷‍♂️

jubilationtcornpone,

No, it’s not. You can drill holes through the center of a joist or rafter but the permitted diameter of the hole depends on the overall width of the board. Notching the edge (or in this case cutting most of the way through it) dramatically weakens the board since the edges bear most of the tension from the load.

jubilationtcornpone,

I’ve done worse. Walled in an unneeded doorway. The seam on one side is clearly visible. But I was trying to get it done in time to host Christmas and it was done very hastily. I’ll fix it one of these days. …probably.
