This thing punches waaaaay above its weight class in terms of price to playability. It is actually stupid how much better it is than my LP. Neck heel is beautiful, completely open access to the upper frets. A nice, chunky, matte neck, too....
Its funny rhat you say that yours has a thinner neck profile, because one of my favourite things about this guitar is the chunky, yet very playable neck.
Alberta's road to quitting the Canada Pension Plan would run smack into a scheduled 2027 provincial election, with Opposition New Democrats promising to kill the idea if they win.
I used to work for a company that had the right idea. We brought our work trucks home, and our work day started when we turned the key, and ended when we got home.
Had to be at a job for 8 and it was an hour away? You were paid for that. Only had a job 5 minutes away? Enjoy the extra sleep in time and the short commute home.
Now, this is way different than an office job that is stationary, but there is definitely a conversation to be had about it. If nothing else, it may have more companies going back to taking WFH seriously again instead of needlesslt forcing people back into office spaces in order to prop up the commercial real estate sector.
The guy who runs Generation Squeeze says building more homes isn’t enough to lower prices, because most people buying houses are already property owners. Property owners can either sell their current house to get a load of cash, or borrow against it to get a load of cash. Either way, they can pay a lot for their next property....
It still doesnt matter if its valued at $650,000 (average home price in Canada).
Even with “only” needing a 5% downpayment as a first time home buyer, thats still a $32,500 nest egg you need to save up for, which I am not convinced a lot of people can do without serious help from their parents or other benefactors.
A massive shift needs to happen to bring home prices back to reality. A 3 bedroom middle class family home should not casually be a million dollar property, as it is in many, many large cities across canada.
I check back on /r/hockey in “old” mode on mobile maybe once every 2 weeks (the Hockey communities here havent really taken off yet), but besides that, nothing.
Until we can all agree that our goal as a society moving forward should be “sustainability and stability” and not “profit increases year by year at any cost”, its not going to get better.
I hadn’t cried in 7 years and decided to do some emotional exercises to make myself cry. So I managed to cry about 4 months ago, haven’t been able to since even with my grandmothers death. Might start trying again.
I like that exercise actors do where they watch a clip that made them cry in the past. That scene whwre Dr. Gregory House indirectly saves the quadraplegic with single shot of cortisol gets me every time. Such a soft spot for those who heal and are healed.
Absolutely. Cons wont win on their own merits, but they can certainly play into Trudeau fatigue and insecurities around the economy to get in, and then proceed to do absolutelty nothing about it.
But what a lot of people don’t seem to grasp is that A) Trudeau (or any politician) does not have a giant lever that they can flip to make the economy “good” or “bed”, and B) the ENTIRE globe is suffering from the after effects of the Covid pandemic, as well as late stage capitalism and the continued concentration of wealth.
Unfortunately, it doesnt seem like any party will properly address the latter, but history has shown that the Torys are adept at gutting social programs to “balance the budget”, when these are the times where we need more social aid, not less.
I also fear for our healthcare system, as they continue to deteriorate and be underfunded in Conservative led provinces in an attempt to starve the beast and justify the privitization of our healthcare.
We tend to consume a lot of American media, whether it be music, movies, tv, etc.
With the advent of social media, that got cranked up to 11. So, we have the same impressionable people being targeted by US-style far right propaganda and you can already see its effects.
Someone like Erin O’Toole was exactly what the conservative party needed to bring more people from the center to the Torys, but as soon as he lost one election, they booted him to the curb in favour of Alt-Right Milhouse, who was cozying up to the Convoy protestors and being called “a Superstar for the Far Right” by none other than InfoWars owner and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
I just hope to god our apathy doesnt take over and allow that cretin and his cronies form government and keep carving up our country and environment to the detriment of everyone but the ultra-wealthy.
They would rather believe in a made up, shadowy group of super wealthy and connected people that rule the world, as opposed to the very public group of super wealthy and connected people that rule the world.
Its more that he supported his rapist friend to try and get his sentence reduced through a character statement. He could have, you know, not supported a rapist just because they had good times making a show together 15 years ago.
Yes, it was an attempt at our very own maple flavoured coup. The organizers literally had a “Memoradum of Understanding” written up with demands that the current government be dissolved and replaced with their own people.
Just because it failed spectacularly doesn’t mean there wasn’t the same basic inspiration behind it.
