VR is dead again, and this time is 100% because of greedy fuckers ruining their own hardware in the name of exclusivity. The technology is fine. The companies are crabs in a bucket.
Adventure Time’s exactly the right show for that addiction. Most episodes aren’t moving along some overarching plot, and don’t neatly tie off and return to the status quo. They’re like - that happened, it was fucked-up, you gotta deal with it. The show hardly goes three consecutive episodes without dipping into mortality salience or outright existential horror. And then what becomes crucially important two seasons later was a cutaway gag with the tiny elephant grandma.
To anyone who hasn’t watched the show: there is an episode where the main characters are transformed into a bowl of soup and a runny egg (respectively) when they attempt to stop two wizards from going to Mars so they can kill God. It is titled “You Forgot Your Floaties.”
Mix and match. If you’re studying the effects of acid, give half the subjects mescaline.
If you’re comparing any psychedelics versus none - some treatments can only be evaluated statistically. Appendectomies, for example. People are gonna know if you did one. But you can analyze the outcomes of people who had surgery for appendicitis versus people who got blasted with antibiotics.
A juror was dismissed Monday after reporting that a woman dropped a bag of $120,000 in cash at her home and offered her more money if she would vote to acquit seven people charged with stealing more than $40 million from a program meant to feed children during the pandemic....
Between the large swaths of rewilded land in Fully Automated’s setting (which is protected from any permanent development/dwelings) and the general availability of high tech stuff, I could totally see slow, wandering, nomadic houses being a thing (for good or ill, depending on who in the setting you ask)....
Not aided by an aversion to commitment. Netflix especially loves to cancel shows after one or two seasons… despite a decade of The Office being their bread and butter. They should be promising creators a budget directly correlated with some desirable metric. Your thing is what five million subscribers are obviously sticking around for? Here’s half the budget of last year, when it was ten. You can decide whether that’s enough to do another season. Oh it was? And it worked? And now it’s twenty million? Great, here’s a shitload of money, keep going.
Fun fact: the Up button doesn’t work in the menu, because Farb-Rausch were scrambling to get below 96 KB. They made a tool that noted which bytes were read during a playthrough and just zeroed anything that did not get referenced. This improved compression enough to squeak under that round-ish number. But whoever did the final playthrough only went down the menu before starting the game.
