Is Craigslist Dying?

I went to Craigslist in my local area for the first time in awhile. I used to like “best of” Craigslist because some of them were great, there still are some, but its just not the same. A community I used to visit had about half the number of posts as I remember, and of jobs and things for sale, I would say roughly half the...

pineapplelover,

Nah I like to go through Craigslist. I live in the Orange County area and lots of people use it.

For Eric Kripke, ‘The Boys’ Was Always About Trumpism (www.hollywoodreporter.com)

As the showrunner grows his darkly comic satire into a franchise — and spoofs a certain trial and presidential election in the new season — he says he’s fine losing the viewers who just figured out his social agenda: “Go watch something else.”

pineapplelover,

It really hit the nail on the head once I watched the stormfront episode.

pineapplelover,

Well there are other places to protest. Like the commons area or something idk.

Watch: Adobe angers artists with new Photoshop terms (techcrunch.com)

Artists got an unpleasant surprise when they opened Photoshop this week, as they were shown a pop-up window asking them to agree to new terms of service. Among the changes: Adobe now says it has the right to access customers’ content through “automated or manual methods.”...

pineapplelover,

What’s stopping you from using a copy of Photoshop you found on the high seas which doesn’t have all this weird stuff? Ideally use libre software but if need be, you could use high seas Photoshop too right?

pineapplelover,

Made me look for internet archive merch and found they actually do have a store for it

store.archive.org

pineapplelover,

Yeah idk man I had to upgrade mine to the max supported ram (I think 8gb or something) because I run a bunch of services like adguard home and jellyfin on it

pineapplelover,

Oh yeah I might have to tell ublock to whitelist ddg so I can support them through ads

pineapplelover,

Is that even legal? 1st amendment and all that. Also that’s destroying personal property.

Vimms Lair is getting removal notices from Nintendo etc. We need someone to help make a rom pack archive can you help? (slrpnk.net)

Vimms lair is starting to remove many roms that are being requested to be removed by Nintendo etc. soon many original roms, hacks, and translations will be lost forever. Can any of you help make archive torrents of roms from vimms lair and cdromance? They have hacks and translations that dont exist elsewhere and will probably be...

pineapplelover,

You can partially seed?

pineapplelover,

What if I only want to download a specific part of it and not more than that. For example a specific episode of curb your enthusiasm and not anything more. Is that possible to stop and seed that episode? I thought by default it will try to download the entire torrent.

pineapplelover,

Also might wanna try to just bring a cheap phone you wouldn’t mind to lose just in case you do manage to lose it. Back up your data so if it does go missing you’ll have the memories.

pineapplelover,

Well phones are generally pretty good for taking pictures and videos. A pixel 4 or something is a pretty decent phone for example.

Linux on old School Machines?

Hi all, the private school I work at has a tonne of old windows 7/8 era desktops in a student library. The place really needs upgrades but they never seem to prioritise replacing these machines. Ive installed Linux on some older laptops of mine and was wondering if you all think it would be worth throwing a light Linux distro on...

pineapplelover,

I would think chromium would use less memory

pineapplelover,

It reaaaally depends. Say the person only needs a browser, once they or someone installs the OS, they can just go to firefox and get started doing whatever they do. If they want to play some games then they might need to learn how to get steam, wine, lutris and stuff installed. However, some distros like Bazzite has that installed. I guess it all depends what they want to do with the computer and how much they want to play around with it.

pineapplelover,

I like the funny shenanigans like the whole no poop and beans stuff. Those little things make it a bit interesting.

pineapplelover,

Ctt windows util tool runs O&O shutup. It’s a very good script cause it just runs everything and let you debloat to your hearts intent. I run it every time I need to make a windows machine.

pineapplelover,
