Dumping +dex and invisibility spells onto my stupid Barbarian because my Sorcerer wife likes her secondary being the fighter so Astarion is never in the party and sneaking around to steal shit has become my job. #BaldursGate

The meat is wrapped in plastic, the cheese is wrapped in plastic, the veggies are in little plastic baggies, the juice is in plastic jugs, the fruit is in plastic cartons... all of it gets thrown away but we banned the plastic shopping bags?

I was born in the 80's. I have a plastic shopping bag stuffed with every plastic shopping bag I've acquired for the last 40 years. It was the only plastic from a grocery trip that WAS actually being reused.

Don't even get me started on the paper straws.

rodhilton,
@rodhilton@mastodon.social avatar

Like I have absolutely no response when conservatives make fun of environmentalists on this stuff, they're totally right and this was real stupid.

The grocery stores still had plastic bags, but charged you for it at checkout if you needed them. Makes sense I guess, to discourage their use?

But now the grocery stores are all back to brown paper bags. So, problem solved, right? No more plastic?

Nah, because they STILL charge for them.

The whole thing just seems like a grift to charge more.

I have literally moved my giant-target-store-plastic-bag-full-of-grocery-bags through 5 different places I've lived.

It may be the longest-lived physical object I've ever owned right alongside my plastic-tote-full-of-wires-and-connectors-going-so-far-back-that-there-are-VGA-cables and my cardboard-box-full-of-original-boxes-for-phones-and-accessories-I-don't-even-have-anymore.

Why are Republicans so obsessed with making Hunter Biden sound dope as hell?

YouTube should just implement a feature where if someone gets all the way to the end of the ads, it knows that they walked away from their computer and it goes ahead and pauses the video for you when they're over.

I cannot express how funny it is that the guy saying Sora is going to be able to generate great movies entirely through AI has a filmography that looks like this.

I honestly don't find the trailer for The Acolyte appealing at all, but if Star Wars Fans hate it there's a good chance it's great. Considering giving it a watch now.

I know this isn't important but sometimes I'm stunned by the fact that they called the third one 'Bill & Ted Face The Music"

The series established a pretty clear precedent for "<adjective> <word that means trip>" and they just threw it away.

Radical Odyssey
Gnarly Expedition
Wicked Voyage
Tubular Pilgrimage
Epic Crusade
Righteous Excursion
Outrageous Quest

Like come the fuck on.

Referring to someone whose position on Joe Biden is "I can't stand this guy and I wish there was a viable alternative but sadly I think there isn't so he gets my vote I guess" as "Blue MAGA" to compare that viewpoint to that of cult followers that insist their guy can do no wrong and wear his merch as if those two positions are even remotely similar really underscores how truly unhinged a good portion of "the left" is.

Straight up some of ya'll are full loony tunes.

We use Quip at work, it's basically Google Docs if you don't want to pay Google.

It does the two most annoying things I've ever seen, that only would possibly annoy me.

I have lots of tabs open all the time, and two ways I manage them are via favidenticons (an extension that generates unique icons for sites so I can see which tab is which at a glance) and Tab Search.

Quip will reset its favicon periodically, which breaks one. And it overrides Command-Shift-A, breaking the other.

rodhilton,
@rodhilton@mastodon.social avatar

Oh and what extremely useful functionality does it bind to Cmd-Shift-A so that I can't tab search if my active tab is a Quip document?

"Copy Quip Link to Clipboard"

Which just copies the url to my clipboard.

A function that already exists in the browser as Cmd-L Cmd-C. Which everyone who uses keyboard shortcuts with enough regularity to benefit from a builtin Quip function already knows.

Young Progressives: "We won't vote for Genocide Joe no matter what! His opponent may be worse but we're sitting out the election in protest!"

(time passes)

Young Progressives: "Why is Joe Biden adopting conservative policies on the border in order to sway centrist voters?! He's not even trying to court my vote!"

Pro-tip for first-time voters: if you publicly state as a group that you're not voting for someone no matter what, you left the table.

rodhilton,
@rodhilton@mastodon.social avatar

@Migueldeicaza Yeah, exactly. He's courting conservatives because a good enough chunk of progressives have bowed out of the election.

Alright, Fox. Please, all you have to do for this to be great: don't connect it in any way to all the other Alien shit.

Don't have Sigourney Weaver show up, don't drop in like a Paul Reiser cameo, don't have the crew open up "The Ripley File" on their computers. Just a straight up horror movie in space is all people are wanting.

Hiring Fede Alvarez was a great call. He made "Evil Dead, but with modern sensibilities" and that looks like exactly what this is for Alien.

It's difficult to be excited for a new entry in a franchise with a 25% success rate[1] but this looks surprisingly good.

I think I'd be rolling my eyes if it wasn't reminding us immediately what else Alvarez has Directed. This has potential.

[1] miss me with the "Alien3 is Good Actually' contrarian take, the good version was never finished and is a headcanon exclusive

One thing Trump did so well was highlight all the aspects of how government runs that were in fact founded on tradition rather than law. Really pointed out a lot of things that ought to be laws.

Being disallowed from voting in an election due to being a felon but being allowed to be the person being voted on seems like yet another thing nobody really thought through all the way.

I love Bill Maher's book tour interviews doing Trump appologia.

"I get hating Trump but you can't hate Trump supporters"

LOL Bill his fuckin fan club is the thing I hate about Trump the most.

"That's half the country, you can't hate half the country"

Honestly Bill that seems kinda low.

rodhilton,
@rodhilton@mastodon.social avatar

@solargroovy ill never get over all that. She was literally saying that a small section of Trump's supporters were scum and so many of them took offense to that like "hey she's talking about me!" well like she is NOW
