It is extremely disappointing that the Biden administration continues to be complicit in genocide by not cutting off all military aid to Israel until they agree to and follow through with a ceasefire.

As early as October 9 top Israeli officials declared that they intended to block the delivery of food, water, and electricity, which is essential for purifying water and cooking. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s words have become infamous: “I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly.” The statement conveyed the view that has seemed to guide Israel’s approach throughout the conflict: that Gazans are collectively complicit for Hamas’s crimes on October 7.

This was my turning point as well, when it became completely obvious that the goal was the direct suffering and punishment of civilians collectively with government officials dehumanizing Palestinians openly. The repeated evacuations to “safe zones” that were then attacked just reinforced this, along with cutting off or murdering journalists to hide the genocide.

Yes, Hamas escalated the situation knowing the Israeli government would retaliate on this level, but that does not justify the IDF taking the bait.

Biden had his fingers crossed when he said invading Rafah would be going to far so it doesn’t count.

    Furthermore: falling prices are utterly terrible for economies, so no one wants to force deflation.

    Oh wow, I didn’t know that more efficient production methods were terrible for the economy. TIL.

    Plus for context, that would be the national federal minimum wage, meaning the floor in the poorest of states. Some states would have a higher minimum just like they do now, but higher than the national wage.

    So the part that isn’t based on wages or personal costs and therefore irrelevant for the average person outside of being a reminder that a worker’s increased productivity has not been rewarded with a matching increase in pay.

    Judge Aileen Cannon said the special counsel’s “conferral” with Trump’s lawyers is “wholly lacking in substance and professional courtesy.”

    Cannon agreed with Trump’s lawyers that the special counsel should not have filed such a motion without meaningfully conferring with the defense, as the local rules require.

    I don’t think there is a meaningful discussion to be had with the defense about making a defendant who constantly violates gag orders shut up.

    Trump’s lead defense attorney Todd Blanche had asked the special counsel to wait until Monday to meet and confer – something the special counsel’s office declined to do because they said Trump had created a situation with his public comments that couldn’t wait the weekend to file.

    Oh, they didn’t wait for the defense to delay and obstruct. Fuck Cannon.

    No, it is a good argument for the congressional review process to actually pay attention to who is being nominated.

    Similarly the strange US habit of text on the ground being written bottom to top. I get what they intended, but I don’t get why, then they first saw the effect, they didn’t laugh and realize it didn’t work.

    The text on the ground is written bottom up because the bottom is seen earlier in a moving vehicle, making reading it easier when in motion as the ‘bottom’ word is ‘first’ to the driver. This is more noticeable in cars that are lower to the ground, and they continue to use it because it does work.

    Not all applications need to take vehicle motion into consideration, but they keep it for consistency.

    The larger vehicles tend to get worse mileage and thus pay more taxes on gasoline/diesel that are used for roads without the government needing to track mileage.

    Electric cars, which are heavier than comparable ICE cars, throw a wrench in the fuel paying for roads concept.

    snooggums,
    @snooggums@midwest.social avatar

    I didn’t say it was a perfect system, just that the system does collect more taxes on heavier vehicles already.

    When I was young the No Passing signs being on the opposite side of the road seemed odd, but no adult I asked knew why.

    Eventually figured out it was on the opposite side so a car that is passing can see the sign.

    I’m talking about No Passing Zone signs, sorry for the confusion.

    That is a two part problem.

    1. The Dems only had the super majority because they were aligned with Independent senators, so they didn’t actually have a supermajority.
    2. At least one of the Dems was opposed to national healthcare because he was a piece of shit, and they feared getting rid of the filibuster to pass single payer because apparently Dems don’t understand that the GOP is based on obstruction.

    Dems need to get rid of the filibuster so they can actually accomplish things when they hold all three branches. Actually doing things would garner them more votes!

    I’m not going to praise people for giving back a small portion of their ill gotten gains. That would be like praising the mob for opening soup kitchens with the money they made through criminal enterprise.

    Do you think insulting people for not being aware of something, when the punchline for a meme is how people aren’t aware of the thing, is how meme boards are supposed to work?

    snooggums,
    @snooggums@midwest.social avatar

    No, it is meme about people finding the unexpected popup they don’t understand about something they are not aware of to be annoying. There are a lot of options in windows that don’t have anything to do with disabilities that have similar popups which are also unexpected and annoying, this one just happens a lot for certain types of games.

    Doubling down by making it about race too is comical. Do you think non-white people in the same situation don’t find the meme relatable?

    snooggums,
    @snooggums@midwest.social avatar

    Maybe you shouldn’t throw insults around while in traffic and then escalate to more insults when people point it out.

    Yeah I think they were trained to be that character. That’s why they give superficial responses that always weave back into the divorce.

    That doesn’t explain the crazy rants about Latino blood gangs or wanting to use a cadaver dog to find someone on their family’s property. It is too consistently crazy to be random LLM posts.

    I mean, if they are a person, they’re stuck in a recursive feedback loop which probably means they are having a psychotic episode of some kind.

    That does explain their entire posting history.
