Nobody said anything about third-party articles. The page linked above is supposed to be a reference, not a tutorial. But the official Nix website also has actual tutorials.
Very excited about this! The new character looks really cool too!
The Steam page also has some gameplay screenshots. It looks surprisingly similar to the first game, but as long as there’s enough new stuff I don’t mind.
I was talking to my manager the other day, discussing the languages we are using at $dayjob. He kind of offhandedly said that he thinks TypeScript is a temporary fad and soon everything will go back to using JavaScript. He doesn’t like that it’s made by Microsoft either....
I haven’t used Python since around the time when type hints first became a thing so I might be completely wrong here, but isn’t this because Python just generally ignores type hints? If you ran a static type checker like mypy over this it would complain right?
Also, if you actually did anything with the list that you couldn’t do with a bool (e.g. len(value)), it would throw an error too because Python is actually pretty strict about types, just only at runtime. That’s why it’s usually considered to be strongly typed, although people don’t seem to agree what exactly that’s supposed to mean.
Rockets being passé, China is working on using an electromagnetic railgun to launch crewed spacecraft the size of a Boeing 737, weighing 50 tonnes, into orbit. This remarkably ambitious project is even more ambitious than it seems at first glance.
I read about WhatsApp and how people can’t part with Meta because of it, however no one on my continent uses it. Why is it so popular in the EU and other parts of the world?
Today was my first day seriously going car free and despite some literal roadblocks ahead I think it’s doable. Any tips taking this further? Thanks in advance.
Don’t be afraid to use a car if you have to. Reducing car dependency is great, but if you live in a place without proper infrastructure it can be almost impossible to completely ditch your car. In that case I’d suggest becoming active in local politics to try to improve the situation.
The topic of UB is continuing to create controversy as the number of non-Magic IP products explodes. The Professor put out a recent video on the topic predicting a future Universes Within product to make up for all the unique UB cards being added to the mix, but looks like MaRo has quickly shut that idea down....
What are players who don’t like UB supposed to do when there are no Magic versions of those cards?
If you’re just playing with your friends you can just decide to not use them or make custom proxy versions for the cards you really want to play with. Or you can just play limited, either with a set that doesn’t have any UB cards or with your own cube.
Otherwise I guess you can either learn to live with them or just stop playing. For me it’s mostly the latter. Universes Beyond, along with absolutely insane power creep especially in Modern and an overwhelming flood of increasingly expensive products have really taken the fun out of the game for me.
I’ve found some and it sucks if the one game that doesn’t work well is one you play a lot. For me it’s Trackmania. It works some of the time but often breaks. It seems like the issue isn’t with the game itself but with Ubisoft Connect, which is pretty shit even on Windows. Very annoying.
Nearly a million Tibetan children live in state-run residential schools on the Tibetan plateau. Chinese authorities subject these children to a highly politicized curriculum designed to strip them of their mother tongue, sever their ties to their religion and culture, and methodically replace their Tibetan identity with a...
You’re trivialising a serious issue. If you had actually read the article you’d know that they’re definitely not just like any other public school and they’re not just “teaching them Chinese and about society”. It’s an obvious and disgusting attempt to eradicate Tibetan culture.
If you could only re-experience from new one game (like total immersion, wide-eyed wonder-at-the-majesty-of-it-all re-experience) and had yet to pick a console (Xbox versus PlayStation), what game on which console and why? (and feel free to remark on ideal controllers, add-ons, etc.)...
I agree, but the problem is that a lot of people do take it seriously. It’s perfectly fine to enjoy these things if you just think they’re fun. But actually believing in things that are demonstrably wrong is definitely a huge red flag for me. I’ve also become extremely negative towards astrology in particular because I’ve had to deal with family who used to take it at face value and also because I love astronomy, which, to me, gets tainted by this pseudoscience nonsense that sort of imitates it.
Update: thanks all for the very helpful advice! I think it’s really special that not one of you dunked on my DM. You all seem very supportive of a broad range of play styles and that’s a sign of a very healthy community....
Don’t listen to the people saying you should just quit. Talk to people first, especially the DM. Tell them about what kind of game you’d like to play. This is something that groups should generally do before they start a campaign (in what some people call session 0), especially if they’ve never played together. It’s possible that the DM isn’t consciously designing the sessions like this and is willing to change it up. Maybe they’re even happy to get some feedback and the other players might also enjoy some more roleplay. Maybe the DM can’t see themselves running a game like that, but another player would love to.
If it becomes clear that the kind of game they want to play and the kind of game you want to play are incompatible, then it’s perfectly fine to say “this isn’t for me” and stop playing with them.
Technically it’s an alphabet, not a language (excluding the keys with actual words on them and not just letters). The letters are called Tengwar and in the lore they’re Elvish letters, but you can use them to write in other languages like English. Even in universe they’re used for other languages like on the inscription of the One Ring, which is in Black Speech.
