A friend just pointed out:

"ADHD creates impulse control issues and, consequently, advertising takes advantage of a disability. Ergo, ad blockers are assistive devices and interfering with their operation for commercial gain constitutes a willful violation of the ADA."

Let’s do this.

@Roundcat Same for me! It never occurred to me to think of it that way explicitly though. The moment I heard the idea, yes!, absolutely!

Boy the Apple Private Relay thing continues to be a problem for Tapestry Kickstarter backers. Don’t worry though, we’ll get your reward delivery sorted. 👍

@gedeonm And extremely satisfying to be so rendered!

@gedeonm Not on the screen, no, but one of your awesome drawings is here on my hard drive. 🙂

@mpirnat Yes it was! I had a hard time not looking away.

Jury: “Guilty of all charges involving campaigns and money.”

Felon: “I got a record amount of donations yesterday!”

Onlookers: “Gasp, I believe him about this!”

Dude is literally a felon for lying about money in the context of a political campaign. Why are you taking his word about the same kind of thing today?

I recently discovered Python's diskcache module, and frankly, I'm a little offended y'all didn't tell me about it earlier.

That's one large class of utility code I'm never again writing myself.

@devontechnologies Do you ever make exceptions for numbers of seats? I have 4 Macs I use exclusively for myself and my own databases: an older Mini home server (e.g. scanner is attached to it), a Studio I use every day for work, a personal MBA I use for all my own stuff, and a work MBP that I only use occasionally because I mainly work from home. I wish I could have DT — and all my data — available everywhere, but can’t justify paying an extra $200.

We’re watching “Blade Runner 2049” and it’s off-puttingly unrealistic. They’d never issue that many building permits in California.

It... still did?

I am not exaggerating this:

I created a new hostname in DNS, then added it to my existing webserver config.

It was online for 3 seconds -- 3! -- before getting a 404 request for /.git/config.

If you're relying on obscurity to protect your services, get that right out your fool head today. You have about 3 seconds to get your act together.

I made the mistake of reading the iTerm GitLab comment thread regarding its new optional AI feature. The entitlement over demanding removal of a disabled-by-default feature is astounding.

Also, the number of people saying “as someone working in an Important Job, I can’t even look at it”. I highly doubt that. As the one who actually talks to auditors for a living, I don’t realistically see this being even a blip on their radar.

Right after this we're having an all-hands.

Missouri's attorney general accuses Kansas City of doxxing Chiefs kicker - The Hill https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/4669147-andrew-bailey-missouri-ag-accuses-kansas-city-doxxing-harrison-butker/

…and there it is.

Harrison Butker: Women belong in the kitchen!

Kansas City: BTW, he doesn’t live in KC proper.

MO AG with nothing more important to do: You can’t tell the world what city he lives in! I’ll stamp my little feet! clutches pearls

I searched “where does Harrison Butker live?” and got this Realtor.com article sharing more information than the Kansas City twitter post did: https://www.realtor.com/news/celebrity-real-estate/kansas-city-chiefs-2023-real-estate/

> In September 2019, the man with the premium toe and camera-ready looks closed on a six-bedroom home in Lee’s Summit that had been on the market for $550,000.

If that’s doxxing, then the word doesn’t mean anything anymore.
