One of the great lessons I have learned from the job and power transitions I have experienced in the last two years is that it is always a good idea NOT to tie the organization's access, accounts, and services to personal accounts from the beginning or to migrate as soon as possible.

It's hard to remember 2 years later that your account at the university you no longer work at is the Slack workspace owner of the community you co-founded or led.

I'm turning 40 in a month. My wife asked me what I want for my birthday.

All I could think of was: power tools

More specifically, a compressor and lots of attachments to paint, nail and what not.

If you all are wondering what I do when I don't build research software...

I build physical objects ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

I'm Bob the builder.

  3. Community careers are for the young(-ish). Across all categories, salaries level off or drop precipitously for respondents that are >= 55

This research shows that aptitude for learning foreign languages is a stronger predictor of learning to program than basic maths knowledge.

"These results provide a novel framework for understanding programming aptitude, suggesting that the importance of numeracy may be overestimated in modern programming education environments."
