I have most of the Fediverse-based account and seem to have just gravitated towards Lemmy over Kbin as found it very confusing, What makes you prefer Kbin over Lemmy or any other Fediverse instances?
Iirc that's intentional so you are more likely to read what others have written before starting your own comment chain. That might just be Tildes though, there that's explicitly said to be the reason why the commenting box is at the bottom.
I don’t tend to eat much fish, but in the supermarket earlier I saw some smoked salmon which didn’t need cooking, and some salmon fillets which did. They looked the same really - both ‘raw’. I decided to buy some of the fillet. It was nice, but a very different flavour from when I’ve tried smoked salmon in the past....
Can you send it to @curiosityLynx or curiosityLynx on Reddit (haven't deleted it yet because I want to make sure to edit my comments as subreddits go public again)? kbin doesn't have private messages yet.

Just checked if lemdro.id possibly defederated kbin.social, but that's not the case. Could be that they have the same bug lemmy.ml had that blocks all requests from kbin instances.

Karma aka. Reputation is already a thing. It's not all that accurate because up-/downvotes from/in defederated instances aren't counted, but the information is out there for anyone who wants to know. See my 1st level reply to OP.
In den englischsprachigen Communities gibt es Massen an Bohnen-Memes. Das wird wohl auch als erste eigene Tradition von Lemmy gefeiert. Kennt jemand den Ursprung?
I personally am quite against it. I joined Lemmy to stay away from the toxicity on Meta’s platforms. I don’t want any corporate bodies on the fediverse either and possibly doing to the fediverse what Google did to XMPP
I can see one usecase of corporate servers in the fediverse:
Twitter has various official corporate accounts and also accounts that pretend to be official corporate accounts but aren't. Twitter's solution to that was verification. In the fediverse, a company like Roblox could spin up mastodon.roblox.com with only one or two accounts that would act as the equivalent of a verified Twitter account by virtue of their home server being a roblox domain.a

@troyunrau For now, I'll reveal that I heard of the book in the podcast Daniel And Jorge Explain The Universe. Occasionally, they interview authors of interesting Science Fiction books. You can see a list of those interview episodes by going to https://sites.uci.edu/danielandjorge/djeu-episode-catalog/ and Ctrl-F for "Science Fiction".
PS: Daniel Whiteson is a physics professor at UC Irvine and was/is(?) involved at CERN as an experimental particle physicist, Jorge Cham is a cartoonist.

So why do you perfer Kbin over Lemmy?

Why does smoked salmon look 'raw'? And why does it taste so different from a cooked fillet?

Why is it called a U turn and not an n turn
Basically the title but when we do a “U” turn we actually make a small n not a U.

Is there any kbin instance that is seriously considering defederating Meta/Threads?
I've checked the fedipact signatories, but they all seem to be lemmy instances.
To the admins- will lemmy.world block Facebook's Threads or are you open to federating with them in the future?
