Linux Phones

agx,

So far you had to pull out 's top and bottom bar quiet a bit to make it unfold. That's kind of o.k. on 📱 like the or but can be cumbersome on larger phones like the or tablets like the . I've put out an MR for which adds a fling so you can also fold/unfold with a fast swipe. Here's a short video demoing this for different screen sizes:

Video showing phosh's panels bar being folded/unfolded via a fling gesture.

agx,

Please excuse the video quality. MR is at https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/Phosh/phoc/-/merge_requests/568

Lol my bad!
Spotifyd and spotify-player... I set them up drunk... But you need an API and your user name and password... In some dot files... Somewhere 🫠

Edit - spotify-player w/ all the add-ons... The default one doesn't have all the neat things but it's im aur

0.5.3 has been released \o/

As a reminder: is the session manager and therefore the "brain" of . The later is intentionally kept simple, not handling anything policy related.

The version has one fix I'm particular happy about:
Fixed camera device deduplication logic when the same device is available
through both V4L2 and libcamera, and the libcamera one groups multiple V4L2
devices together.

This one is important for some #LinuxMobile devices like the #Librem5 and #PinePhone and once the update lands in #postmarketOS they should finally work ootb there \o/

new test release 1.45.1 for #deltachat_desktop is ready for testing.

We fixed the map and added a small screen mode making it more usable on small screens such as #linuxmobile phones (even though that is still not really a supported use case)

blake,

I got my hands on a #Librem5 #LinuxPhone and here are my first impressions. (Thanks @stu!)

blake,

@lewiscowles1986 @stu I don't think it's a good idea to disclose the price I got it for, but I did pay for it and I did not pay full price, I'll say that.

Okay, I was curious as to the retail vs re-sell; but I can be curious elsewhere.

I Feel like it's a whole thing with non [cr]Apple devices that they re-sell sharply under the new value.

Needed? Hmm, most folks don't have a fan for it... But for me, I see good improvements on the battery and obviously heat. Keeps it around 120 F (49 C) vs 150F (66 C) + without the fan

Just got back from the local #tdose conference. I might have gone a bit overboard in preparing some #sxmo material to go in style. Fellow mobile linux project #ubports had a nice stand and #nlnet had lots of stickers to share, including a #postmarketos one.

And in case anybody else wants to print #sxmo merch. Somehow i wish @frameworkcomputer would create a mobile phone with full mainline Linux support like the #Librem5 aims to.
Like with current hardware.
They should also would fund development of the ecosystem (OS/apps/etc.).
We need a second player in the market and i think #FrameWork has a better network and reputation than purism.

#Pine64 is not it, because they release and forget about their products, sadly.

My fellow fedizens, i have done it.
I have applied #BitRitter to https://nlnet.nl/propose/ in the category "Open Call". Well at least 2 features i want to implement.
Wish me luck.

If you have an awesome Mobile FOSS Project, maybe you want to apply too? Deadline is 2024-06-01 so this friday. Application process took me about half an hour, so that's doable.

I don't think I've ever compiled the kernel as often on a single day as I have today, but my Mobian port to the Pixel 3a / 3a XL is making progress.

My device-specific kerrnel repo is working, though I still need to find the right place for some kernel config stuff. if compiled as is, touch won't work. But I can manually copy the ".config" from pmOS to the repo and do "make olddefconfig" and then everything works nicely.

How do you press Esc with the softkeyboard (in vi) on ?

linmob,

@crft That depends on the UI. On Phosh (with the default squeekboard keyboard), hit the >_ key (if you don't see it, make sure to switch to Terminal layout by hitting the globe key) and find in the bottom left. On other UIs, things are different.
