So, I use a MacBook and macOS.

Lets say, I have a Teams call with someone who uses Windows, and has Windows Recall enabled. Am I going to be recorded by it on the other end? Am I going to be warned about this feature being on? Can I opt out? How does it affect my privacy? Is this in any way legal in the EU? What happens with calls between US and EU? Which legislation applies?

Asking for a friend...

Eine Frage an die Leute aus der Region : Wir waren vor Jahren (vor 2020) mal in der Nähe von Aachen in einem sehr schönen , betrieben von zwei älteren Herren, mit griechischer Küche (nix großes, eher so leckere Kleinigkeiten) eingekehrt. My trusty (well, until recently) 20 year old car suffered from a rapid unscheduled disassembly on the rear axle a couple of days ago. Thankfully, it broke down while it was parked. It’s gone to the trash compactor by now and I’m going to try to live without owning a car. Better for the climate (and my wallet) anyway. Cycling, public transport and car sharing it is from now on. Farewell, old rustbucket! We had some good times! 🫡

@janbeta You can do it! I have never owned a car in my own name, and for the past three years our household has been car-free. Even though our city is small, getting by with bikes and car-sharing works fantastically well. Even with kids! And for holidays we still rent a car sometimes, or go by train etc. And indeed it is much cheaper! For the cost of an inspection or AU/HU you can basically rebuild the whole bike.

Ich glaube den Computer Markt hält sich selbst künstlich die Preise hoch und es kauft keiner die überteuert alte Hardware..
Beispiel:
komplette 486 soll kosten 200-400€
komplette 386 soll kosten 150-300€
Amiga - zwischen 150-4000€ je nach Modell

Ganz ehrlich. Wer ist bereit, das zu bezahlen?

And these are the before and after pictures of the cast metal frame. I used deoxit and an old cloth and cotton buds to remove the dirt and cover the metal at the same time with the deoxit, which usually gives a very thin coating that will protect the metal. Smells horribly though. :)
I think I will need to lube the top and bottom ball bearings of the spindle. The top one I can reach easily. For the bottom one I probably have to unmount the flywheel, but I don't want to...

@ColinHaynes Thanks. How good a match is it?Since I have only very small spots on the outside I fear that spraying will lead to an uneven look if I only spray small parts. Hence I would rather buy model paint and fill in the little splotches. On the inside (shown in the photo) it really doesn't matter, as it's not visible.

EDIT: I would have guessed that RAL 9012 would be a better match.

The IEEE488 cables have been worked on by the rust converter over night. After rinsing and cleaning with deoxit spray they look much nicer. I probably won’t use them, but they make great historical artifacts. Still lots of leftover corrosion here and there.

I tried to write a #floppy for my #C64 using my #XUM1541 and my 1541-II drive. Somehow, it seems to have problems halfway through.
Could this be an issue with the floppy disk itself, or the XUM1541? Happens with both my 1541-II, so they shouldn't be the issue.
Are there test programs for C64 that fully write a floppy disk?

It stops writing at 70% according to #CBMTransfer without returning an error.

@rommudoh the 1541 Diag Cart has a performance test that should test a disk and drive fully by completely writing and reading every track.

Hat vielleicht noch jemand eine MOS 8501 CPU für den über? Die hier wurde vom Vorgänger bei einem Reparaturversuch falsch herum auf den Sockel gesteckt und ist dabei gestorben. Das Gerät soll weiter leben.

@mase tja. Der hier ist mindestens relabeled. Es gab keine CSG branded 8501… sollte immer MOS Draufstehen. 1990 wurden auch keine 8501 mehr gemacht. Und die Revision fehlt. 8501R1 oder 8501R4 sollte da stehen.

EDIT quark, CSG gab es wohl nur 8500. aber nicht 8501.

@mase Ne, der 8501 ist ein 6502 durch und durch. Das Pinout ist einfach anders. Er hat 8 I/O pins statt 6, dafür kein NMI und clock out.
