also dudes wear matching Norwegian sweaters, there are fish throwing and weight pulling contests, and you can eat fry bread, Vietnamese, West Indian, Cajun, Mexican, and BBQ etc all on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere on which white supremacy propelled early Norwegian immigrant fishermen to an enduring top of the social hierarchy on Lingít lands but the need to process fish has brought wave upon wave of people from all over the region and world

Putuuqti’s nicknames: Other Baby, PP, Babby, Willa Willa, Little Love

All animals are “Baby” and “Cutie” to me.

@feelnotes at the end of parades in Petersburg you go perform in front of the long term care porch at the hospital for the elders in their wheelchairs, and there was this super wholesome moment where the Tlingit dancers (which this year included an entire 5th grade class visiting from Juneau) were next and the kids couldn’t help but join the Zumba dance and instantly picked up the moves and everyone was dancing to Pitbull together for the old people — I cried from joy lol
