Remembering the #abortion provider and advocate Dr. Greg Tiller. He was murdered by an anti-abortion terrorist 15 years ago today.
Prior to his murder he had survived being shot in an assassination attempt and also had his clinic firebombed. Despite this he continued his work up until his murder.
I don't know who it was that put a Canadian flag and a satellite dish on a roadside beaver house in the middle of nowhere British Colombia... but well done. No notes. #comedy
Nori on the west side of the Cascades! Excited to get up to BC tomorrow. Also #Canada friends! Spending tomorrow night in Prince George - recommendations for places to eat/drink or things to do?
And the #NewMexico to #Alaska journey begins! I figured I could benefit from some company so I have my copilots Nori the Narwhal navigating and Still In The Box Furby riding shotgun.
@seachanger I still go by Hunter. Kale is the name I go by at summer camp where I volunteer as a nurse. And also on the FEELD app. But both are okay and I respond to both! :)
I feel like Joseph should be a little more concerned. Celebrities from Cardi B to Macklemore are publicly criticizing his policies with the latter putting out a wildly popular Hind's Hall with the lyrics "The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all. And fuck no, I'm not votin' for you in the fall"
Tragic and predictable consequence of #abortion restrictions. Pregnancy is an established risk factor for homicide and intimate partner violence.
Reminder for health care workers - it is especially important to screen pregnant and postpartum people for intimate partner violence (ideally screen ALL people regardless gender/sex)
In defense of university administrators, they are doing an excellent job teaching young people that whether it be a university or a business, institutions don't give a shit about you and have no qualms about throwing you under the bus to protect their interests.
Breast/chest cancer screenings now recommended to begin at 40! (*for people assigned female at birth)
Glad to see the USPSTF guidelines finally align with orgs like the American Cancer Society and others who've recommended beginning at 40 for some time.
For #trans women and #nonbinary folks who take estradiol there are a few competing breast/chest cancer screening recommendations from a few different orgs (see below). Guidelines are guidelines and don't capture individual risk factors and finding a health care provider one trusts to collaborate with and decide what/when screenings are recommended is always a good idea.
At last - successfully sold a used sailboat in Albuquerque. Turns out there isn't a huge market for sailboats here. Who would've imagined? Departing for Alaska in less than 2 weeks!
If anyone out there can remind me that it is indeed possible for life to be enjoyed and not solely endured it would be greatly appreciated.
The most insidious manifestation of depression is that it makes it impossible to imagine life in its absence. Invariably I have an "oh fuck I was in worse shape than I realized" moment when it finally lifts. Thanks friends. β€οΈ
@purplepadma@lilbatscholar that so well articulates my biggest grievance with depression. that is robs me of the imagination to see things being better or even different. it breaks the lens through which i perceive the world. and like you said, sometimes those around you are needed sustain the faith that life can look differently than one might be perceiving it at the moment. thank you so much for taking some time from your life to respond. it means a lot β€οΈ
Her whole being has physically revolved around earth for an impossible number of years. She's seen pangea break up into the masses we now call continents. Seen the darkness of night artificially lit up. I wonder what she will look down on a million years from now. I hope something better for this planet and all the creatures that dwell upon it.
If i went to one funeral a day for each child killed in #gaza it would be the equivalent of going to a funeral every day of my life since i was born. i'm 36 years old. #freepalestine
@inquiline@Hunter it's beyond tragic. i have one friend who had a child die and it gutted her and her whole family. i can't begin to imagine that experience multiplied to a terrifying degree. i don't intend to draw an equivalency between the experiences but do think it is helpful in empathizing (as best as i'm able) with what people are currently experiencing under siege and occupation.
