Got a new toy 😁 it's my first one and I got it in a very nice deal. Looking forward to test this thing.

Does everyone has experience with that model or other types of filament dryers?

@pbl0m Would love to know how you get on with it. I've got a bunch of spools of PLA that have been open for a while and could do with drying. I've had this one in my wish-list for a while.

I don't print much in PLA anymore though so I've not been tempted enough at the ~£60 price tag.

@hamido @pbl0m my roomate still puts them in the kitchen oven for a little bit no matter how many times im like... there has to be a better way lol.

@bobmagicii @hamido I tried that too and it worked but the spools suffered a lot in this process 🙈 So the temperature might be to high 😬 and I think that the oven way is also not the most efficient method from an energy perspective 😅

@pbl0m @hamido yeah the energy use is my sticking point. as far as i can tell his spools and filament came out ok though.

@pbl0m @bobmagicii Here's an idea; here me out; I have some 3d printed desiccant containers with hygrometers for keeping bagged spools dry and I just put them on top of the radiator in my office and they've dropped from ~60% to ~30% relative humidity... maybe I could just rest some spools (of PLA) on top of the radiator...it could work.

The radiator hits about 50°C in my office.

@hamido @pbl0m yall gonna hate me but i dont bother. these spools have been open air two years and still work fine.

@bobmagicii @hamido irgs 😅 would not work for me, I need them in a box. In a large sealed one with desiccant inside... Just for my inner Monk 😂

Actually I have two of them 🙈

Btw: that's what a spool looks like after a oven trip which went a little bit to hit 🔥😬

@pbl0m @bobmagicii Oof that looks like it has seen better days.

I roll my spools on the outer rim so warping them like that wouldn't be ideal, and many of mine are paper spools (local UK made stuff, eco friendly etc), I'm not sure I'd want to put those in the oven 😅

@hamido @pbl0m the cardboard ones i have wondered if the cardboard itself helps wick moisture out. also if they dry better in the oven as long as you keep it under like 400, its ignition temp is generally a little higher.

i mean people are cooking frozen pizzas on it on purpose and accidentally all across the planet right now even.

@bobmagicii @pbl0m First of all I had to LOL at "400". I'm a Brit and use Celcius so that caught me off guard for a second.

More importantly, people leave frozen pizzas on the cardboard disc??? Is that normal?

Mind blown. 🤯

@hamido @pbl0m man i've had entire party killing arguments with people who were arguing for both sides of the frozen pizza disc 🤣
