3D printed filament spool, from recycled filament, for recycled filament 😎 ♻️

I really like this idea 😁 Looking forward for my recycling filament order.

@moira @NewNordicNormal I actually was asking myself if that will survive the first tour 😄 But if you'll replace it with metal you should be all good😉

On the other hand I'm interested if it's possible to print such a part that would work out🤔 Maybe in carbon fiber with a different orientation.

All done 🤩 My first version of a 3D printed bedside table is ready for release 😁

The table is 36cm x 36cm x 55cm and completely 3D printed in 👉👉vase mode👈👈. Technically no glue is needed cause the single parts interlock but for extra stiffness I'll glue the tabletop parts together 😉

The single parts are designed to fit on an ender 3 size bed and will be released soon on printables 😃

Can I print a table in vase mode that's capable of holding 5 spools of filament?

Yes, I can 😁

Should be sufficient as a bedside table 😎

First time printing out of a filament dryer. Might be overkill for PETG but hey, it's because I can 😅💁

Got a new toy 😁 it's my first one and I got it in a very nice deal. Looking forward to test this thing.

Does everyone has experience with that model or other types of filament dryers?

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@bobmagicii @hamido I tried that too and it worked but the spools suffered a lot in this process 🙈 So the temperature might be to high 😬 and I think that the oven way is also not the most efficient method from an energy perspective 😅

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@bobmagicii @hamido irgs 😅 would not work for me, I need them in a box. In a large sealed one with desiccant inside... Just for my inner Monk 😂

Actually I have two of them 🙈

Btw: that's what a spool looks like after a oven trip which went a little bit to hit 🔥😬

Polyterra PLA at 205/65, Ender 3 with Biqu H2 V2S. Models with large bottom surface warp off the (new) textured PEI bed at corners.

Tried, didn't fix:

  • thorough cleaning with dish soap and IPA

  • bed from 60 to 70C

  • plenty of squish

  • 210-215 hotend temp

  • first layer is at 0.7mm width (I use a 0.6 nozzle as default), 20mm/s

  • fan is off for the first layer

  • mouse ears at corners

  • PEO sheet

I don't other issues with adhesion, even small parts.

Any other tips? Thanks!

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@stooovie recently I watched Today's 3D Print where Nerys faced similar issues with his "Building Bocks". Even changes to the model won't work cause a some scale the force of the plastic becomes so high during cooling of the layers that it shrinks itself from the bed 😧

He was able to handle the warping issues using "Vision Miner Nano Polymer" adhesive. Maybe that also works for you.

What kind of model are you printing 🙂?

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@stooovie ok, that should be possible without warping 🤔 let me try to print it, just to see if I get similar results.

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@stooovie so far so flat, it's an Ender 3v2 with poly terra PLA. Let's find out how it looks tmrw. 🤔

Warping test edge view

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@stooovie ok even after the half of the print, it sticks super flat to the build plate.

Another thing that came to my mind was, have you checked the consistency of your heat bed? Maybe some areas have different temperatures than the others. This could explain why larger PLA prints fail/warp. Cause PLA is super subsceptible to heat changes. So of that's the root cause of the warping, try to turn the heat bed off at all. PLA don't actually need a heated bed to be printed.

Just an idea 😄

pbl0m,
@pbl0m@phpc.social avatar

@stooovie I have 😉 The print already raised the attention of my daughter 😄

Ohh I missed that so hard 😆

I switched to couple month ago on my private laptop and as a longtime user I love to use the [superkey] to overview all windows. Finally I got this to work in KDE😍

Just use the following 2 commands.

~$: kwriteconfig5 --file ~/.config/kwinrc --group ModifierOnlyShortcuts --key Meta "org.kde.kglobalaccel,/component/kwin,org.kde.kglobalaccel.Component,invokeShortcut,Overview"

~$: qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin reconfigure
