I constantly hear about homeless resources, we need more shelters etc. Nobody seems to mention that the homeless people walking about punching strangers aren’t the ones who seek help. My city is filled with the same violent, homeless people who threaten assault and terrorize commuters. To the point that threads about my city have nicknames for the different violent homeless guys that are well known, who face no consequences ever.
Until we admit that some mentally ill homeless are going to need forced help, things are never ever going to be fixed. Just wagging your finger at them and releasing them to assault others, is not really helping anyone
Comments like this is why I like Lemmy. No revenge fetishism or punishment fantasy. Simply a hope for justice and betterment, and acceptance of the fact that criminals are also victims. Thank you.
