We have a huge paper shredder in the office.

It's smurt, it has IoT features and an touch enabled full color screen.

It takes about 40 seconds for it to wake up from power-saving mode. You stand next to it like an idiot, holding two sheets of paper, waiting for a Technological Progress to finish whatever it is doing, dunno, DHCP negotiations, who knows.

I have a paper shredder at home. It has on/off switch. When it's on it goes "bzzzzz", and when it's off it's off. It even does not have sleep mode to save the planet, it's just off.
