@4bz I have been learning so much about how buildings work since I started this project. I had never done anything like this before. It was a 2x4 framed, concrete floor, plywood wall and door, structure with a collapsing roof when I started.

So its a big damn learning experience. But goddamn. Now I appreciate all the work in every building I enter.

Anyway, you let me know if you need tips. It only takes hundreds of dollars and time.

I really like The Magnetic Fields' 69 Love songs, because it's such a flex.

It's like, here's every cliche you've ever heard, and here's a whole swathe of completely fresh metaphors and takes on love songs too.

Like, I cannot write a single complete song, and those fuckers wrote 69 Love songs and you don't really get the impression they found it challenging!

And there's legitimately great songs on there - it's not just a wacky concept album for chuckles.

When I finally finish my concept album about the animal shelter one day, I'd really love to get as many likes and favs for my music as I do for my photos just once in my life.

I'd even settle for half as many.

Just once in my life. Can you do that, fediverse? Because that would really take the fear out of releasing it to the outside world.

    @feld weird. I wonder how long it'll take before AI is able to fingerprint a person by their voice.

    Text transcripts of audio are far more mineable, processing can probably even be done locally on devices for easily shipping to mass storage.

    I hate to jump to "Orwellian Dystopian Nightmare" so quickly, but dang that could be real close.

    Could charge folks with wrongthink without the need for listening to phone conversations.

    I have 4 phones in front of me on my desk right now. My personal device, and 3 test devices I juggle between to test things for work.

    After wife gives birth and I'm on parental leave next week, I plan to lock all 4 of these fuckers in a drawer for at least a week. Then maybe I'll take out my personal phone, and maybe take a nice walk to the river and throw it in.

    I can't wait til I finish . I've had a damn frustrating morning at work, and I just wanna jump on my drum kit and bang out some really loud stress relief - without waking up toddler from nap.

    But theres a few (largely cosmetic) things I feel I need to get done before before I finish up with the floors.

    I picked a wood stain and I think it looks great. Though I learned that apparently youre sposed to stain the wood before you nail it to the wall.

    I've been a little worried about the size - turning a 10' x 12' shed into a legit recording studio.

    @billyjoebowers @flockofnazguls I've been using MX-based AV Linux, installed on an 8 year old MacBook Air.

    It's kind of awesome, but it leaves something to be desired. But I've been out of the Linux game for too long, so it's hard for me to elaborate.

    Dug out my Core -based guitar pedal. This thing is super flexible and powerful--and fun. Unfortunately, my soldering was a little iffy and I need to do some rework before it's stable enough for live use. Meanwhile, it's fun to mess with and customize the sounds. This is meant to be an sort of sound.

    @venya my favorite is pisound - itll spin up that same web interface for virtual pedals.

    I once delved into making a virtual pedal for it... but fuck me that turned out to be a whole world of crazy standards and file formats that left me lost.

    I'm biased, but I always thought the recording had a potential to be super... fun to listen to. But I've felt like I never achieved that in the mix.

    At the time, I really just needed to release it so I felt like I could move on with my life. Spending the cash to get it mastered professionally was not an option.

    So if you come up with anything at all, I'd love to hear what kinda sound you can find!
