This is such a strange thing to say about Star Wars but whenever I see a trailer for anything in the franchise, as soon as a lightsaber ignites I'm just immediately done with it.

Surely the least interesting thing about the Star Wars universe is that there are people in it who carry swords made of lasers. I don't know if the prequels ruined lightsabers for me or if it's the fact they the only people who wield them are part of rigid religious sects with strict rules making them boring.

Everyone is mad about the Recall thing, but y’all are apparently ignoring the entire SV business model, hoovering up data. They don’t give a fuck about abusive spouses or whatever; the allegations against Altman by his sister just went away bc she’s an OF model and he’s rich. “Threat models” still don’t factor in intimate partner abuse or whatever. They don’t give a fuck. Hope that helps

Can anyone recommend a decent iTerm2 replacement for macOS now that iTerm2 has jumped the shark and is pushing ChatGPT integration down my throat? (Preferably one that is (a) free and (b) doesn't require hand-editing JSON files to change the font size and typeface.)

EDIT: hint: point (b) is crucial—if I have to hand-edit a config file that's an automatic fail. Life is too short to be forced to futz around to configure a basic tool.

    There is nothing BUT magic there, or we’d be able to express it easily in other mediums; we still don’t even have a solid grasp of the exact mechanism of action on things like anesthesia or what a dream is!

    That said, I’m a biological naturalist, so I do not believe that the mind-body problem will ever be “solved” by machines or that a machine can be made to imitate the precise function of our intelligence (although intelligence may be achieved by other means)

    One of the biggest problems is we're trapped by late-stage capitalism. This is a classic “vote with your wallet" case: don't like it, don't buy a Tesla, don't use Starlink. Except I have no say in how SpaceX does its business with my government, Tesla is largely hyped by a cult, and his rich techbro pals will just circle the wagons and make this go away

    @rodhilton I worked with my HOA to add new dog poop stations to an area that lacked coverage, and I still find turds 5’ from the station. It makes me insane esp after doing the work

    I wrote about why support and the is the biggest thing to happen to gaming on the in more than 30 years for Inverse! I stad by this -- even if it remains a niche/developer centric tool, the community has already proved that this is a big deal.
