People are not "felons." They are people who have been convicted of felonies.

Normalizing language that is primarily used to dehumanize people who've been targeted by our national obsession with incarceration is wrong even it seems fun. It does Trump no harm but it's a cheap shot that hurts human beings who are a lot more vulnerable.

America had its first black president and then went through a pandemic where citizens were asked to make some sacrifices to save their neighbors' lives and that was enough to make a significant number of Americans give up on this whole democracy thing and turn fascist.

Like, in retrospect it's not surprising at all but it's still a shocker.

I've come to regard my gender as one of the least interesting possible things about me (or anyone) and it's such a shame that our entire culture's obsession with it means some of us have to experience a lot of abuse just for having a gender that some folks don't like.

My husband (@dragondaddy here on Masto) works with Azadi #Kenya, a survivor-led NGO that supports survivors of human trafficking.

Many of their members have been hit hard by the flooding in #Nairobi - and are left without housing, food, mattresses, clean water, etc.

It's a measure of the right's success in shifting the Overton window that Johnson will probably survive MTG's motion with the help of Democrat support.

A few years ago he woulda been too extremist to get bipartisan support. Today, he's "the reasonable one" to a congress and electorate exhausted by congressional chaos.

I get the political calculus that puts them there in this moment, but if we feel tempted to crow when MTG loses, remember that this whole show represents a win for the right.

1. Does Hoosier.social federate with Threads?

2. Does Hoosier.social have any plans for federating with future proprietary services in the Fediverse (like maybe BlueSky someday)?

3. Do you federate with Mastodon.social? Your “About” page makes me think you might not.
