janejana, I FORGOT TO POST THE P-SPEC VOLUME ONE SCANS HERE :blobcatsweat:
P-SPEC Vol 1 covers the original PSO, Universe, Portable and Zero games--basically everything before PSO2. I hope you enjoy it :blobcathappy: #phantasystar #pso #psu

janejana, I started playing Phantasy Star III yesterday. I've had this copy for awhile--the sheer number of stickers from the rental store it came from always makes me laugh.
I actually love physical games with rental store stickers--in retrospect, they were a short-lived phenomenon, and having evidence that they existed feels more meaningful than a pristine cart.
Anyway, I'm not far but wheeeew, PSIII did not age well. I feel the same way about PSII tbh. Important games in a historical context but really hard to just play through and enjoy, lol

janejana, @Judeau yeah, it seems like poison blocks all healing, and even if you stay at an inn the status effect stays and keeps you from restoring HP. Made gaining the first 5 levels and the first equipment upgrade a bit tricky as recovering from random encounters was rather costly. 😅
Judeau, @janejana Aha! So that was the issue! Thanks for letting me know.
I have never played an RPG where poison completely prevents a character from being healed. I believe I had both the instruction book and the official strategy guide and neither said anything about that as far as I recall.
I assumed my copy of the game was bugged for years until I saw it casually mentioned on a forum somewhere.
I just never got back around to giving the game another go.

buru5, in #PhantasyStar hamburgers and cola are the only healing items
WanderingInDigitalWorlds, (edited ) @buru5 an iconic choice to be certain. It makes me wonder if this was an stealthy advertisement for burger places that sell soft drinks too? 🤔 😂
Then Phantasy Star 2 happened, and it became: Monomate, Dimate, Trimate, and Star Mist. For healing HP at least. Moon Dew was the resurrection item for party members away from a Cloning Facility (where you resurrect party members in town).
buru5, guess we're doing this now
#PhantasyStar
buru5, every playthrough of #PhantasyStar starts with 3hours of grinding outside of the first town; entirely unavoidable, everything bodies you if you don't grind Sworms (and only Sworms) for at least one hour. Alis needs to level up thrice so she learns Heal & needs to earn 75 meseta to purchase the 'Iron Sword' from the 2nd town; after the sword, grind Owl Bears for another hour until 270m to buy the LghtSuit from the port town; now ready for first dungeon.
does this align with Ages version? @Judeau
WanderingInDigitalWorlds, @buru5 I think Phantasy Star 3 and 4 were the only games to make it easier to get your party strength up a lot faster.
Phantasy Star and Phantasy Star 2 were grind heavy because you could easily get destroyed in the early areas if your party was underleveled and used starting gear.
mrbee, I was really happy to have #phantasystar Zero on the #ds . It felt like too powerful a game for the system and yet there it was running fine. I think I struggled to find people to play it with but that's the way it went on the DS. Still the last one in the series I've played, although I downloaded the one that's available on PS5. #retrogaming #sega #nintendo #shareyourgames
