How did you choose your first army?
I like the aesthetic of sm, eldar, drakhari, tau, orks. Gameplay wise I don’t know what I will prefer as I’ve never played a full game or my own list....

It was the 90s since I last played 40K apart fro a short stint playing Dawn of War....
So everyone's playing house rules points per model right?
I don't love free wargear (because there will inevitably better or worse options when everything is a straight swap whereas with points cost you can balance finely), but I can see that it makes life easier....

Best and worst Horus Heresy books?
Got into 40K last month and jumped right into Horus Heresy series using that handy reading order chart, wanted to get to Thousand Sons as fast as possible so I could learn about my army and read about the nothing Magnus allegedly did wrong....
My first attempt at freehand. Is it good? No. But am I proud of it? No. But, will I keep trying and improve slowly over time, and eventually master this difficult technique? Also no. (lemmy.world)

Where to start
Hello all. I have been lurking 40k subreddits and now here on Lemmy for quiet some times. I want to get into 40k universe and I need your help. Where to start? I love books. Which would you recommend to read first? Where to start in games?...

I’ve started to use a quick and dirty method for painting vehicles. It is a Reaper triad stippled over black primer. I think the vehicles turn out great for a quick tabletop ready paint job.
