Launch a new trilogy? Wouldn’t this be the third in the series?

Emperor,
@Emperor@feddit.uk avatar

That’s the beauty of it, you can complete one trilogy and start another. I suspect they’ll be like 28 Years Later: Aftermath, etc.

DarylDutch, to britishhorror in Zombies Remain Unkillable: Danny Boyle and Alex Garland Hope to Launch a New Trilogy with 28 Years Later

I love that nobody even mentions 28 weeks later. It was such a dissapointment after the slow dread of the first one.

Emperor,

I’m pretty sure you are experiencing the Mandela Effect - there’s only one film.

DarylDutch,

I must have been mistaken then.

This is The Way

@Emperor@feddit.uk avatar

I’m in.

  • 28 Years Later - set in 2030 bringing back old characters who’d be the right age.
  • 28 Decades Later - looking at their descendants restoring the world.
  • 28 Centuries Later - even in space we can’t escape the virud

Although I imagine it’d be more likely things like:

  • 28 Years Later: Aftermath
  • 28 Years Later: Rebirth
Nudding,
  • 28 years later: Afterbirth
Emperor,
@Emperor@feddit.uk avatar

Oooo I like that.

Nudding,

That’s what my morning brain did to your 2 ideas lmao

Emperor,
@Emperor@feddit.uk avatar

And it works well. It’s going in my notebook of random ideas.

Nudding,

Ah man I thought I was the only one who wrote down weird funny shit I heard or thought of haha

Emperor,
@Emperor@feddit.uk avatar

In my OneNites I have a Random Ideas notebook with an Utterly Random section in there. If nothing else I often get a laugh out of it, which is the most important thing.

Malgas,

If they make it a quadrilogy:

In the grim darkness of the 29th millennium, there are only zombies.

We can never escape the virud.

Virud is life, Virud is everything, we live only for Virud.

a4ng3l, to television in Apple TV+ to Adapt Martha Wells’ Murderbot; Alexander Skarsgård Set to Star

On one hand I love the idea but then it’s the only streaming platform I’m not a customer of… I’m curious to see a show based on the story. I can’t say it’s in my top 5 of scifi books but it was pleasant enough to read.

Skavau,

If you're into sci-fi, Apple probably is a must at this point: Severance, Silo, For All Mankind, Monarch, Foundation

a4ng3l,

Yeah I was already on the edge due to Foundation… For all mankind not so much despite an important peer pressure : the trailers just didn’t move me. The others I haven’t heard about till now :)

Skavau,

There are other ones too like See, Hello Tomorrow, Invasion although they're less well rated.

Great author, sucks

nukeworker10, to scifi in Military Science Fiction Author David Drake, Passes Away at Age 78

That sucks. One of my favorite authors. His book Redliners is a really different take on military sci fi, and gives a unique look at the interaction between the military and the society they protect.

fazalmajid,

Thanks for the recommendation. I went on Apple iBooks to buy it, it turns out it’s free.

nukeworker10,

I hope you like it. One of the best military sci fi writers ever. I loved everything except the Lt. Leary stuff. I couldn’t get into those.

It’d sure be nice if people were allowed to experience and enjoy a thing without having a business built around outrage engagement giving its unsolicited opinion.

I keep hearing good things about Martha Wells. I need to start reading her books.

Zrybew, to geekdom in The Creator Fails to Offer Unique Sci-Fi Cinema at a Time When It’s Desperately Needed

Beautiful cinematography, but overused concepts. Really shallow in ideas.

Alpha 0*? Really?!? It couldn’t be cheesier.

Eq0, to printsf in The Passing of the Dragon - Ken Liu

The start did not resonate that much with me, but the second part is really poetical and moving. Thanks for sharing!

Arthur,

To me, most of Ken Liu’s writing follows that same pattern. I push myself to get through the first part because the reward is a poetical and moving second part.

EssentialCoffee, to babylon5 in Babylon 5: The Complete Series Is Coming to Blu-ray for the First Time

Yeah, this is bought.

oocdc2, to sciencefiction in Babylon 5 Is a Perfect, Terrible Series

I'm rewatching it right now and enjoying it. The characters are well-written, the principals were cast well, a lot of recognizable "B" and "C" actors make cameos, I honestly think some of the CGI still works (fight me).

loudmicro, to geekdom in How Many Genres Is Too Many?

I kinda missread genres as “genders” and I sighed and thought " pff another article about this… "

uriel238, to sciencefiction in Babylon 5 Is a Perfect, Terrible Series
@uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Right now it looks like we’ll have a couple of decades of Road Warrior (any of the Mad Max series) for a couple of decades, with declining care use and rising cannibalism. And then its up to the roaches, rats and coyotes.

We’re going to have to learn some serious Star Trek stuff if we’re going to survive the climate crisis and plastic crisis.
