@Stoneycase I couldn't get through that mini-novel comment he wrote. It seemed like he might have been manic or just really high on something. Definitely a douche, though.
@janerationx The food was not good at either location! The location in the article was literally decorated like a Japanese sushi spot. Then switched to Italian as partners bailed. In the body of the article, he has “an interested party but not sure he wants to risk their money”. In the comment he explains the economics of how full service restaurants not only don’t work, but he “has a new owner that’s going to pay him handsomely to just consult”. 🤣 CC: @dave_heumann
@Stoneycase@janerationx Right, I did see that part. I meant to write that I made it about halfway through his long-ass novel of a first comment, not the article itself.
I like the part where he was bragging about his sports cars, and saying stuff like "too bad for you I have one and you don't", and later talks about how he couldn't always make payroll and said something like "If you don't like it get another job".
@dave_heumann@janerationx I couldn’t read the whole comment either. Started to skim half way down the page. Holy smokes! Been a local mini saga for a while now.
@Stoneycase@janerationx The closest we've come to that in Baltimore was this local restauranteur who pissed off a lot of people in the neighborhood adjacent to mine by appropriating and kitsch-ifying the neighborhood's culture, even trying to copyright local slang.
Then her restaurant was doing poorly and someone got Gordon Ramsey to come out, where he featured her restaurant and basically did a public intervention, which ultimately failed.
@janerationx@Stoneycase I think you can still find the Episode of Kitchen Nightmares out in the streams somewhere. The place was called Café Hon.
Extra background: They also had a giant plastic pink flamingo affixed to the front of the building, which referenced John Waters' movie but as far as I know never had his endorsement or support
@dave_heumann@janerationx@Stoneycase it's also just a super gross movie in general. Which is the point of course. But there's nothing in there you want associated with your eatery
