Everybody admits #JustinFields had no support and did well with what he was given. That he handled it in the media better than anybody could expect. His teammates loved him. And now just as the #ChicagoBears were surrounding him with talent, they trade him for an unknown quantity. And we only have this top pick because last year's top sure thing QB didn't turn out that way. I don't fucking get it. #NFL
I don't want to care about sports but the #ChicagoBears just do matter to me. There's nothing else so meaningless that really just sets my mood for the whole fucking week. I guess it's patriotism but for the city I love somehow. I wish they could somehow be publicly owned, but the McCaskeys feel like family. #nfl
@wjmaggos What cured me of caring about high level professional sports was finding a supporter owned team like Minneapolis City SC. Not sure if there is anything close to you though.
That's #ChicagoBears football. We bring other teams (almost) down to our level. Boring ass games. Doing just enough to keep everybody in town paying attention until they break our hearts in the last few minutes. And we'll gladly do it again next week for as long as they let us. Hell of a relationship we got going on here. #nfl
So far, this game has been pretty solid from the Bears. Long of hard running football and keeping pressure off Bagent. I would like to see him stretch the field a bit more than he has
@wjmaggos 100000% agree that the coaching staff did not design an offense for Fields to thrive. Even with him, they are still doing a ton of check downs and screens. I don't think Bagent is necessarily the answer, but it was nice to see someone who looked confident under center as opposed to the deer in headlights looks Fields has had most of this season.
cause he learned to play a different kind of football and excelled at it and they put him in this manage the game crap. nothing feels right to him. he had to run a lot more last season than he ever did in college. he's great at the long ball which takes time for WRs to get down field. which requires an OL. I'll agree he's still slow to read defenses but that's at least partially due to expecting constant pressure.
The #ChicagoBears should now be focused on a new head coach and offensive coordinator that #JustinFields wants to work with. if they can all get on the same page and feel comfortable before the draft, you take Marvin Harrison Jr but use the other pick to do whatever other teams do to successfully build their offensive lines. otherwise, trade Justin and take a QB and completely rebuild. #NFL
@wjmaggos isn't that how you set back the franchise even further back, if that's possible? A player that has had three years to prove he is a special talent has been terrible and now he will be an influence to who is getting hired to coach him? His comments that coaching is a problem was a disaster, take some responsibility and be a professional.
you might be right but I don't know that you can put the blame on Justin yet. we did not design the offense around his skill set. the Bears have never had a good quarterback and might just fuck up whoever we put in that position. unless you're pretty sure that won't happen, we might just be setting the team up to repeat the last three years no matter who we draft. if there's a chance he can be ok with more support, you make that solid so you can switch QBs later. maybe.
#ChicagoBears Defensive Coordinator quitting today to focus on "health & family" and it has nothing to do with how poorly they played or the fact that their next game is against the #KansaaCityChiefs
@adamjcook That would be great. The pessimistic Bears fan in me believes the worst outcome will happen here (because of course it will), but I’m holding out hope.
