👀A #Texas judge on Thursday granted a pregnant woman permission to obtain an #abortion in an unprecedented challenge to the state’s ban that took effect after Roe v. Wade was overturned last year.

@GottaLaff I am so pissed that women are faced with the interference of a doctor-patient relationship. I write postcards to voters, and this is one I write with passion on every card.

GottaLaff,
@GottaLaff@mastodon.social avatar

@Gardenermerc Thank you for doing that.

Glad she's able to get it. Sad she had to go through that.

@GottaLaff
I'm impressed a judge actually told Abbott to kiss his ass.
I'm depressed because too many women will still die from complications that normally would have been avoided.
😼

@GottaLaff@mastodon.social avatar

@ChrisHolladay That we even have to go thru this shit...sigh.

@GottaLaff @ChrisHolladay The situation in TX is even worse based on the right-to-life extremists who grant a child with no hope more compassion than the woman bearing that child.

@William3rd @GottaLaff @ChrisHolladay there is not an iota of compassion for either foetus or mother in these laws ☹️

@GottaLaff Well, of course. She's a blonde haired, blue eyed white chick. Let's speculate how the judge might have ruled if she were a minority.

browneyedgirl,
browneyedgirl,

@GottaLaff Because of this block and ongoing legal actions, she's apparently planning to get hers done out of state (hopefully in a sanctuary state) which itself may touch off a number of lawsuits testing whether one state can shield from another state's laws.

GottaLaff,
@GottaLaff@mastodon.social avatar

@browneyedgirl Yes, I tooted about that a few hours ago, and even in another more recent post. Texas can go Cheney itself.

    Someone needs to explain to Paxton how separation of powers works. Preferably while cuffing him and taking to prison for corruption.

    That guy is a true Republican.
    A liar and cheat and criminal. Doing nasty things because he can.
    Without a hint of care for the law, or the people of Texas.
    Course the people of Texas keep voting for these vile criminals.

    @GottaLaff Oh look... there might be hope

    (However that just means they will try something in the future to ensure this never happens again...)

    @Aviva_Gary Sigh, it never ends

    @GottaLaff Thank goodness for this Texas Judge but it's appalling that this was necessary. It isn't the developed world when women need to be granted permission for anything regarding their own bodies. Can you imagine a man ever being denied permission to rights over his own body?

    LadyDragonfly,

    @GottaLaff proof that THEY KNOW abortion does not equal murder. You don't go to court to get special permission from a judge to poison your boss. THEY KNOW it's not the same thing. They just hate that it's women making the choice.

    GottaLaff,
    @GottaLaff@mastodon.social avatar

    @LadyDragonfly It's all about power

    @GottaLaff I'm so glad a politician mercifully approved the private medical decision she had to make that was NOT the state's business. Thank goodness for our benevolent masters!
