I've seen a lot of takes on and defederation, but I've only seen them in context of whether microblogging servers (masto et al) should federate or not. I've not seen any real discussion yet on the interaction between / and .

Even though, I think this is where one of the real strength of the fediverse is: the ability to interact not only cross server, but also cross platform.

@laurenshof Lemmy is isolated enough to not care about the microblog side. And the average Reddit refugee wants posts to be public, indexed on Google and searchable. The worry is more about how to be an internet front-page than about privacy.

Kbin now is a good question, they have everything necessary to interact with meta threads. But they don't have the old Lemmy/mastodon crowd. It's going to be interesting to observe.

(On another note, people who hate *key for their full text search should also hate kbin, because I absolutely can search their posts there.)
