dukeGR4,

i hate how conservative Malays think a fucking economic policy as if it’s some kind of entrenched right when it isn’t.

yes, hak bumiputera is in fact enshrined and entrenched in the constitution but i wished they knew that as with most constitution, it’s strictly aspirational and it’s written so the courts can give it full effect in the future IF a case comes up.

he’s better off setting up a social security organisation and give cold hard cash as payment for those that’s down on their luck. if you actually give them money you could actually change their quality of life. Even RM100-200 a month goes a long way for many poor families even in today’s economic climate.

I’ve always thought one of the more unfortunate consequences of hak being translated as both right as privilege and right as remedy is this erosion of meaning

@rakyat sigh

my twitter TL is full of rage regarding today's news about Swatch

PH supporters yell at one another "nak PN ke" / "orang PN" and others "complain pun tak boleh meh" / "PH throw minorities under the bus AGAIN "

few weeks ago I read headline saying die-hard najib fans want to vote for PN, and some (ex) PH voters threated to vote for PN to teach PH a lesson :0540:

i'm also very pessimistic liao

@fanboh So many of these are a consequence of/response to our winner-take-all first past the post voting system. It’s either PH/BN take everything or PN take everything.

Malaysia state polls: how a ‘wave of discontent’ in Selangor could drive referendum on PM Anwar’s unity government

“‘There clearly has been a swing in Malay support towards PN in GE15 and I would suggest that had continued since,’ Welsh told This Week in Asia, referring to the 15th general election in November. ‘The question is the scope of that [swing].’”

littleclover,

I’m really hoping that PRM and PSM could ripped off some left-wing votes from the Madani government. It not only gives chances to those small parties to participate in the parliament but also gain a foothold in the political centre as an alternative from both PH/BN coalition and PN.

rakyat,
@rakyat@hachyderm.io avatar

@littleclover Does it really work in a first-past-the-post voting system though?
