admin,

New wafrn update!

We have removed our dependency on google captcha and the youtube player!

We now use a rate-limiter for posts and registrations and login attemps, so no need to have the invisible captcha.

Also regarding youtube, who did watched a youtube video inside wafrn? Not me and probably not you! The new system will open youtube in a new tab and depending on your phone, open the youtube app.

We hope you're enjoying wafrn and that you're having a great day

gabboman,

Now wafrn respects your privacy even more. Wich is cool

hypolite,

@gabboman Speaking of privacy, why is wafrn sending me your posts and comments even though I'm not following your account?

gabboman,

@hypolite fedetation is magic

hypolite,

@gabboman No it’s not, did you add my account to a list of receivers like you can do in Diaspora?

gabboman,

@hypolite I marked the post as public and the backend says

"oh this post is PUBLIC => send to everyone you know".

Did... you got a notification or something?

hypolite,

@gabboman I have been seeing all your top-level posts, replies and likes in my own timeline. No notifications, but I have been wondering why I have been receiving these without following you. Usually Friendica rejects unsolicited content.

gabboman,

@hypolite ... wow.

I would say that its a bug in my code but it does not happend with mastodon nor calckey nor pleromas.

Butt I feel like its a bug in friendica, since in your dashboard you should see only what you follow. There is a diference between an explore feed and the other one.

Basically the code to send the post is here. Might be me doing something non standard but i think that the software should not show you what you're not following on your default instance.

Might be a good idea to talk first to your admins and then make a github issue here both of us

hypolite,

@gabboman I have increased my log verbosity on my production node so hopefully it’ll yield some hint.

On the other hand, did you interact with my account at all two weeks ago when I started receiving your content? Any significant code change?

gabboman,

@hypolite so the thing is that someone retooted content of yours, or something of you got to my instance.

at that moment you and your server are in "the known users to send content" so thats why your server started getting wafrn posts.

gabboman,

@hypolite oh shit you're a core dev hahaha.

well, would you like a hand on how to make a wafrn instance?

it needs node and in THEORY could even use sqlite.

hypolite,

@gabboman So your server sends content individually to all the contacts it just knows about? This sounds unwise to me, it's going to generate some discontent with remote servers. Better stick to contacts who actively requested updates through the Follow feature.

It still doesn't explain why Friendica isn't filtering this content. I'll wait for your next post outside of this conversation where I'm mentioned so it makes sense I'm receiving replies.

gabboman,

@hypolite there has been a test post 4 you.

also, beer in mind that the concept is wafrn content to appear in others explore federated page
